❌ MYTH BUSTED: Is Alfalfa Hard on Horses' Kidneys? ❌

Let’s clear this up: Alfalfa isn’t inherently “hard” on your horse’s kidneys. Protein, when metabolized, produces nitrogen that’s filtered by the kidneys and voided in urine. This is a normal process for healthy horses. 🐴✨

Here’s what matters:
🌾 Choose alfalfa with protein levels below 17% crude protein.
💧 Always ensure your horse has access to fresh water, as hydration is critical to support the nitrogen filtration process.

When fed properly, alfalfa can be a healthy and beneficial part of your horse’s diet. 🌱

Free choice GOOD quality forage is one of the most important things for horses, especially in the winter during the cold months. As long as your horses are eating; they’re heating. My horses thrive and happily live out 24/7 with access to shelter!

These guys never don’t have hay infront of them. A good deworming program is also extremely important, along with the obvious, fresh water 24/7 and minerals.

Well as foaling season has started for many- and approaching for others I’m getting VERY excited about my one and only baby I’m expecting! This mare has phenomenal foals and is due early April. I’m sure glad I had the opportunity to get her last spring! I left all my mares at home open as I needed a bit of a break from it all, however I have some very exciting breeding plans for 2025 so stay tuned👀

Rose is in foal to STRAIT FROM SH**UN, who happens to be one of my favourite outside stallions (hence why I already own four babies by him) She is homozygous black and tobiano!
