Broccoli: an antioxidant-rich vegetable, is rich in fibre and helps boost the immune system. It is abundant in beta-carotene, Vitamin C, lutein and several minerals.
Carrots: are a great source of beta-carotene—a powerful immune-boosting antioxidant—and contain a high-soluble fibre, which reduces blood cholesterol levels and promotes regularity. They are high in Vitamin A, B complex, C, D ,E, and K and offer many minerals such as calcium, copper, iron and magnesium
Celery: is used in traditional Chinese medicine to aid with high blood pressure and has been shown to reduce blood pressure in animals. This fibre-rich vegetable contains flavonoids, shown to fight the risk of cancer, and antioxidants, beneficial in fighting inflammation.
Cored Apples: are a great source of energy with naturally occurring sugars and are high in fibre, Vitamin A and C, calcium, phosphorus, iron, sodium and potassium. With most of the fibre and vitamins being just under the apple skin, we use everything but the core.
Cored Pears: with naturally occurring fructose, glucose and carbohydrates, are a nutritious, quick source of energy. Pears are also high in potassium, which is important for proper heart, nerve and muscle function, and high in Vitamin C, which is essential for normal metabolism, aids in healing cuts and bruises and helps guard against a number of infectious diseases.
Green Beans: pack a nutritional punch like a vegetable multivitamin. They’re loaded with Vitamin A, C, and K; the minerals iron, magnesium, manganese, and potassium; and are a great source of fibre and folic acid.
Romaine Lettuce: is a great source of folic acid, zinc and Vitamin A, D and C.
Spinach: known as an anti-inflammatory super food, is one of the most nutritionally-dense and protein-rich vegetables. It is filled with antioxidants and is a great source of fibre and folic acid. Spinach contains Vitamin A, B6 and C and minerals including calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, sulfur, thiamine and betacarotene. Spinach is considered an anti-inflammatory super food.
Strawberries and Blueberries: are nutritional powerhouses for both you and your dog. Both are full of antioxidants and boast high levels of fibre and Vitamin C. Here’s a bonus: Strawberries even contain an enzyme that can help whiten your dog’s teeth!
