"Nothing like a little international pampering! 🐾✨ Benny, my young Jack Russell Terrier, is soaking up a well-deserved head massage from one of his new best friends, Joe, one of our incredible helpers from the UK. Benny’s got a special role here as our junior camp counsellor, and it’s clear he loves every moment! With his wonderful temperament and natural instincts, Benny is a testament to the value of responsible breeding and good socialization. A well-bred dog with a solid temperament makes all the difference, helping to avoid issues down the line—good genetics and early, positive experiences go a long way.
Joe and his partner Liv will be with us into the New Year. Such a good team! We're enjoying them, along with Tony and Mary from New Caledonia, an island between Australia and New Zealand; Manon and Theo, both from France; and Kent and Shirley, both from China. Our Happy Tails family is full of good folks from all over the world this season, and Benny is feeling the love! Forgive the laughter; it was our after-dinner relaxation, and I don't know how to remove the background sounds. *lol* ❤️ #HappyTailsFamily #BennyTheJRT #JuniorCampCounsellor #InternationalHelpers #GoodDogsGoodBreeders"
The pack saving a corner for their human ;)
Remember Oliver from a few years ago? If you follow our page, you might well remember one of the rescues donating a sports car that had been a prize in a ticket sales lottery, and whose winner gave it back to the rescue, who then let another rescue raffle it off to send Oliver to us. They had a dog from Iran that had been badly abused and was really iffy with people. He'd like some and fly off at others. Oliver had been beaten to death by his previous owner in an Iran building site...but somehow miraculously survived and was then brought to live in Canada. He was in a real state but thrived at Happy Tails, relaxing and detoxing...and after 100 days of detox and a rehome package, he found his new people, Adriana and Patric, an instructor and a doctor in the Canadian Armed Forces. A wonderful couple who love him very much.
They were engaged for a long while and now just got married in South America... Adriana's home country, and will return to their home in Quebec as a legally married couple now. ;)
Congratulations. Your wedding photos and videos are so beautiful!

I did just 20 seconds on my phone in one of our dog parks, Hilltop Ponds Daycare Dog Park.
It's nice and shady, and it's breezy most of the time, too...But it has the sound of "dogs."...Hilltop is one of our highest spots, and it has a spring-fed pond and a really good view over the resort. And the dogs are like me—just relaxed, mellow, sharing a moment...and maybe that is the sound of me panting too...*lol*
Enjoy 20 seconds or so of my life and the same 20 seconds or so with some wonderful guests here last Friday. Some have gone home, some are still here on their Playcations...
It is a steady stream of players and stayers Not every moment is Dogs and Their Tomfoolery... sometimes...more often than not... it's just like this...Dogs who get to relax just being dogs in a good place with lots of space and Muskoka fresh air and peace, too.
Lisa.
PS You can hear the men using the wood chipper in the distance...The Arborist team cut down a few trees on Thurs & Friday. They are back this week for more couple of days...We had 5 large pines done and several more coming under the saw this week and mulched up. The view is changing.
View of the storm last night.
I wanted to share that we are all safe despite the tornado and extreme thunderstorm warnings in our area. During the storm, all the dogs, including my huskies, found shelter in the solidly built pavilion. Blu, my confident husky, was the only one who crawled under a futon couch.
My helpers and I had just finished dinner and were gathered in the building, "oohing and awwing." They were at the windows watching the wind swirl the pond surface beside the pavilion and the trees swaying back and forth. The wind was strong, and the rain was pouring down in sheets.
Just to let you know. I brought all the dogs in and closed their pet doors before the storm hit. They were eager to be reassured and to gather together in their various rooms, except for Pete, who refused to come in. I left his pet door open, and he came in when he wanted to. After the storm, I opened all the other pet doors, and there was Pete already back outside, lying on his side, just relaxing with the sound of frogs singing. His sense of resilience was admirable. He got up, wagged his tail, and gave me a grin, saying, "What's all the fuss about? I enjoyed it." Lol
Despite the chaos outside, everyone is now calm, a testament to our preparedness and safety. All the dogs are quiet and settled in for the night on their own. No one is stressed, and all are happy. The generator served as a reliable backup power source when the power went out, ensuring our comfort and safety during the storm and my ability to write this message and make myself a warm drink before I soon toddle off to my own bed.
So, if you were worried, know that the storm has passed, and we are safe. There isn't a sound except for the singing frogs in the ponds and likely some snoring from a few of the very contented dogs. Hope everyone in our area is feeling the same peace.
[My helpers gave me a video of last night's storm. We have a big Maple tree down on the hydro line coming into the resort. Wow.]
Benny's thoughts on Bed Rest. He can't wait to be back to his job as Junior Camp Counsellor on Monday. *lol*
Sorry, no instrumental music, just the soft, gentle sound of Margaret snoring. She lives a full life at the resort, and like fur guests, human guests, and me, we are all dog-tired after our full lives. Occasionally, we catch a nap and "saw a few zzz...logs" like dog-happy and tired-out dogs. Enjoy.

If you follow our Facebook, you will know Margaret, who came to live with me at the resort many, many years ago. I adopted her from the Orillia Humane Society. She lives her life BIG and has fully enjoyed her years here, running, playing, swimming, chasing chipmunks, digging holes, and generally showing all the little dog guests how to fully enjoy our Cottage Dog Lifestyle Resort. She is training a junior Jack (aka Jack Benny) how to be a camp counsellor for little dogs, too. Here she is enjoying her evening rewards as myself and my helpers sit down for our evening dinners together. #littledogsrock #littledogsofinstagram #HappyTailsMuskoka #littledogbigpersonality #littleworkingdog #cagefree #petresort #HappyTails #muskokaontario
"We appreciated the kindness shown to Oreo during his visit to the Happy Tails Pet Resort. His accommodations were superb, and probably far more exciting than our ordinary house. Thank you for attending to his need for a pedicure as well. Due to an unexpected delay in our moving plans, Oreo was able to stay a little longer than planned, but has adjusted well to his new environment, an indication that he hasn't felt stressed out, despite almost a week away from his family." Kathy Kay
[You are most welcome. Oreo was a favourite of my resort helpers and myself. He is such a charmer. Lisa and the team at Happy Tails.]

If you follow our page, you will know Pete and the five previous dogs from Burford situation Oct, 2021 who have had a chance to enjoy a cage free Cottage Dog Lifestyle Resort in Muskoka; Ivy, Mavis, Hope, Mylo have scored big time and have happy homes and futures.
If you're looking to add a rescue to your fur family, please consider Pete! He is a four-year-old 50 pound dog who has been patiently waiting for his forever home for quite some time. Pete is a shy and cautious dog who needs a patient and loving people to give him time to trust and feel comfortable in his new surroundings. He waited a long time to come here to detox. His rescue has paid for another 30 days stay but they need help to find him his loving home.
Pete is up-to-date on all his vaccinations (getting updated new ones soon), and has been neutered, making him a healthy and happy boy. He would make a great companion for another dog, but unfortunately, I don't know how he gets along with cats. Maybe Cassia does.
If you're interested in adopting Pete or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Cassia from Sato's Saved End of the Line Rescue and Rehabilitation. She can provide you with all the information you need and guide you through the adoption process.
By adopting Pete, you'll not only be giving him a loving home but also helping Cassia in her mission to find forever homes for all the dogs who survived Burford. Pete is a homeless Canadian rescue, and as Canadians, it's our responsibility to help Pete find his perfect family.
Let's work together to make sure the right people see Pete and he too finds his perfect forever home soon!
