With a heat warning kicking off the week, we wanted to share some heat safety tips with you to keep your furry friends healthy and happy this summer!

Traveling: Never leave your pet in the car in the summer; even in the shade or with windows down. Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even in the shade and with windows open. The most common cause of heatstroke for pets is being left in a car with inadequate ventilation on a warm day. It only takes a few moments for a pet’s body temperature to rise dramatically and put their safety at risk.

Staying Cool: Make sure your pet has access to drinking water and shade. Other common causes of heat stroke and dehydration are when pets are left outside on hot days without any shade or access to cool drinking water. Remember to bring bottles of water on walks and outings as well.

Sun Safety: Slather on the sunscreen. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in dogs, and dogs can get sunburned too! Apply a specially formulated pet sunscreen to delicate, exposed areas like bellies and noses if you’re going to be spending some time outside or if your pet loves to sunbathe.

Paw Care: Hot pavement and sand can cause burns and discomfort for your pet's paws. Try to walk them during cooler times of the day or stick to grassy areas. Consider using paw wax or booties to provide an extra layer of protection.

Please join us in appreciation of our wonderful reception staff! Carley, Lorraine, Sandy, Brianna and Tristan do a fantastic job with greeting clients with warm smiles, managing appointments, helping clients with diet options, and so much more.

They keep our hospital running smoothly everyday and they bring so much happiness and laughter to our team. We Truely appreciate you all everyday! Thank you for all that you do! 💕🐾

We are also extremely sad to annouce that Tristan is unfortunately leaving our team as of today as well. He has decided to expand his knowledge and is moving on to the next exciting adventure in his life! We will certainly miss you and all your contributions to making this hospital a fun, enjoyable place to work, from your humor, positive attitude, hard work to your amazing job with managing our social media.
