Do you want to try something fun and new with your dog? How about Canicross!? We know dogs love to run and Canicross provides twice the fun as you are running together. It's a great way to build your relationship with your dog and to get active. With a modest investment it's easy to get into the sport and can be done virtually anywhere! At our workshop you will receive instruction from seasoned Canicrossers who will share the benefits of the sport to you and your dog, discuss gear and proper fitting, pre and post run preparation, and how to enjoyably introduce the concept to your dog. Our workshop will end with a short group trail run on private property.

Vita K9 is proud to host an Introduction to Weight Pull on Saturday, July 6th in Innisfil, Ontario. This four a hour workshop will be held from 9:00am - 1:00pm and limited to 10-15 dogs. The instructor is the accomplished Heather Parsons from Bedlam Acres Dalmatians.

Are you interested in weight pull?! Vita K9 is gauging interest in hosting an introduction to weight pull in Innisfil, Ontario mid-late summer. This workshop is intended to introduce owners and their dogs to the sport of weight pull, no experience necessary. Handlers new to the sport are also welcome!
Instructor will be Heather Parsons, Bedlam Acres Dalmatians, an accomplished, long-time competitor with titles on multiple dogs through United Kennel Club (UKC).
Session would be 4 hours with harnesses available to try. Numbers limited to 10-15 participants, cost per person $150-$175. Please DM if interested or comment below.

Using scent boxes provides an opportunity in a controlled environment to observe your dog’s behaviour in odour, at source and out of odour. It’s also a great way to hone your marker skills as a handler.

Serrano’s Rolodex continues to grow ☺️She gained further exposure & experience working natural grave sites on Tuesday. Bodies are wrapped in a shroud, if a casket is used it’s a simple wood or wicker material and buried 18” to about 4 feet depending on the terrain.

Definitely motivated today coming off a great weekend of learning & networking! I’ve been to many conferences, seminars & trainings in my life both professionally (non-profit industry) & personally (canine & equine) and some attendees are reluctant to share best practices for fear knowledge will be stolen. It was so refreshing to see & hear open, encouraging dialogue at LEADS! As someone making a huge pivot in my life opening a canine training business, the topics were all applicable, the speakers supportive & generous and the attendees equally open & non-competitive. Thank you .canada Logan Bennett & Darren Grendel.

Spent the weekend at the first ever Learning Enrichment and Dog Training Seminar (LEADS). Excellent speakers covering topics like getting fit with your dog, canine health, animal welfare, innovative forensic investigations & SAR and business advice. Attendees embraced the supportive environment & shared best practices ~ food was great too! Huge thanks to .coldridge for organizing & hosting a great conference! I’m looking forward to next year already!

For those looking for private space to work their dog(s), please check out www.vitak9.com I offer rentals of areas ranging from 1/2 acre to 15 acres to work your dog in tracking, detection, area searches, obstacles or use it for a private play session. Equine fence is in place - not dog proof - no equines on site. Terrain includes rolling elevation, stream, bridges, fields, grasslands, forest & trails. Handlers must be in control of their dogs at all times and clean up after. $25.00 per hour, per handler. Located in South Simcoe County, close to Hwys 400 & 89. We had an amazing experience at Muscatatuck Urban Training Centre in Indiana this past weekend. Multiple scenarios set up to search for human remains in various buildings, rubble, train & plane wrecks, flooded village and caves plus unique opportunities on ropes! Serrano built confidence with each scenario 💜 I’m super proud of her!
