All good changes to extend life start with food. Replacing as little as 10% of your pet’s daily ultra-processed pet food (kibble) with fresh food creates positive changes in their body. So what foods are you adding to your pet’s bowl to make it better? DR. KAREN BECKER

Vet schools need to teach a variety of surgical sterilization techniques for dogs (cats have a different reproductive cycle and are not as negatively impacted by having no s*x hormones throughout life).

Everyone agrees that dogs should not have unwanted litters, which means having dogs sterilized is a critical part of population control.
However, research shows the sterilization technique matters, when it comes to long-term health outcomes.

Traditional spaying and neutering (aka des*xing) are the only techniques vets are currently taught, and removing ALL s*x hormones, especially when dogs are very young, comes with a host of potential irreversible, lifelong consequences. A growing body of research shows that early neutering can cause long-term health and behavior problems in dogs due to their inability to produce s*x hormones.

Sterilization without g***d removal (i.e., hysterectomies for females, vasectomies for males) are better alternatives, for the preservation of important hormones, but these techniques aren’t taught in vet schools (yet). Read today’s free pet health blog (link below) to learn more about des*xing research, and how to support the hormones of your spayed/neutered pet.

ATTENTION Pet Parents!

A chemical used in Milk-Bones, Ol’Roy, Kibbles’n Bits, Hill’s Pet Food and other pet foods should no longer be considered safe for consumption due to concerns about its ability to damage DNA according to a new animal-model study.

According to the Environmental Working Group: “A scientific panel created by the European Food Safety Authority found that titanium dioxide “can no longer be considered as safe when used as a food additive.” The panel, citing concerns about titanium dioxide’s genotoxicity, or its ability to damage DNA, based its conclusion on a review of hundreds of scientific studies. EWG called on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to quickly consider whether to ban titanium dioxide from use in food."

A chemical that may damage our pet's DNA should not be fed to pets.

Titanium dioxide is on The Forever Dog’s Dirty Dozen list of additives you need to avoid in your pet food. www.ForeverDog.com/about

Has your doctor ever tell you process food is healthier then fresh food so why do you still feed Kibble to your beloved furbabies???

I started out like all veterinarians. We were trained to recommend the brands that make prescription diet food. Here's why I switched to raw.

🔥🔥🔥PET FOOD ANALYSIS DU JOUR! 🔥🔥🔥 Purina ONE Smartblend Chicken & Rice Formula Dog Food - NASTY 🤬INGREDIENTS:CHICKEN, 4 ...
10/22/2020

🔥🔥🔥PET FOOD ANALYSIS DU JOUR! 🔥🔥🔥 Purina ONE Smartblend Chicken & Rice Formula Dog Food - NASTY 🤬
INGREDIENTS:
CHICKEN, 4 Star - Contains 75% water in the muscles. Good source of Protein but can legally be from Dead, Dying, Diseased or Disabled animals (4-D) adds weight to dry food, less protein nutrition because once the water is sucked out, the chicken can ends up WAY down the list –1% to 6% of dry contents - in the FINISHED kibble
RICE FLOUR, 1 Star – Cheap “Hog Grade” filler, can cause bowel distress and can lead to diabetes in dogs. US produced rice has extremely high levels of cancer-causing Arsenic unless it is Californian. Rice, especially with the germ and bran/hulls intact, has high levels of OXALATES, associated with crystals and stones in the Urinary Tract in dogs and cats. ALL Rice and rice products can also be contaminated with potentially lethal Aflatoxins from molds. Chinese rice products have found to be contaminated with dangerous Melamine and Cyanuric Acid.
CORN GLUTEN MEAL, 1 Star - Waste product, Hog-Grade, cheap, non-nutritive filler but used as protein source -- can cause allergies and sugar imbalance. Corn, especially with the germ and/or bran/hulls intact, has high levels of OXALATES, associated with crystals and stones in the Urinary Tract in dogs and cats. Can also be contaminated with potentially lethal Aflatoxins from molds Will be organ-damaging, cancer- and infertility-causing GMO laced with poisonous Round-Up (Glyphosate)
WHOLE GRAIN CORN, 1 Star – Feed grade (old, moldy) not human-grade (healthier, fresher), can cause allergies, weight gain, blood sugar imbalances. May be contaminated with poisonous Aflatoxins from that mold. Has moderately high levels of OXALATES, associated with crystals and stones in the Urinary Tract in dogs and cats. Will be organ-damaging, cancer- and infertility-causing GMO laced with poisonous Round-Up (Glyphosate)
CHICKEN BY-PRODUCT MEAL, 1 Star – contains rendered ground-up carcasses after all the muscle meat is removed. Can include internal organs including intestines, heads, beaks, feet, bones and undeveloped eggs – also diseased, infected or cancerous tissue, but only contains feathers that are unavoidable in the processing of the poultry parts. Can vary in quality from batch to batch but will be high in “Ash” due to the high bone content. To create chicken byproduct meal, ingredients are placed into large vats and cooked at VERY high temperatures. This rendering process not only separates fat and removes water to create a concentrated protein product, it also kills bacteria, viruses, parasites and other organisms. BUT because meat can be rid of infectious agents through the rendering process, “4D” animals (dead, dying, diseased or disabled) – and yes, you can add a 5th “D” which is “DECOMPOSING”… ARE allowable chicken by-product meal ingredients. While not always present, the possible inclusion of these ingredients makes chicken by-product meal ALWAYS considered unfit for human consumption. It WILL most likely contain Endotoxins (produced by Gram Negative Bacteria such as E. Coli) and these are NOT destroyed by high temperature rendering; severe sickness and organ failure can result!)
WHOLE GRAIN WHEAT, 2 Star - Contains all nutrients of wheat but indicates the use of feed-grade (old, moldy), not human-grade (healthier, fresher), can cause allergies. May be contaminated with potentially deadly Aflatoxins from mold. Has moderately high levels of OXALATES, associated with crystals and stones in the Urinary Tract in dogs and cats. ALL non-organic grains can be Round-Up (Glyphosate) contaminated as this poisonous chemical is used as a “Ripening/dessicating agent”.
SOYBEAN MEAL (1 star for dogs; 2 Star for cats) This is what is left over after the Oil has been removed. Dogs can not digest soybeans, can bloat/die. Average source of protein and fiber for cats but Soy is also a KNOWN disruptor of thyroid gland function. Soy beans have high levels of OXALATES, associated with crystals and stones in the Urinary Tract in dogs and cats.. Some Chinese manufactured Soy products have been found to be contaminated with dangerous Melamine and Cyanuric Acid which have caused kidney failure and death in dogs and cats. Will be organ-damaging, cancer- and infertility-causing GMO laced with poisonous Round-Up (Glyphosate)
BEEF FAT, 1 Star – Also known as Beef Tallow. - Poor source of fat. This fat obtained from the tissue of cattle in the commercial process of rendering. Also called Beef Fat. Dogs and cats like the taste of this fat, so it is often used to make low-quality food more palatable. Can legally be rendered from Dead, Dying, Diseased or Disabled animals (4-D), plus a FIFTH “D” – DECOMPOSING, and a SIXTH “D” – DRUGGED. The euthanising drug PENTOBARBITAL CONTINUES TO BE FOUND IN BEEF FAT. It can also contain insecticides used as parasite control on animals as well as the drugs used to treat sickness that are present in a dead animal. Beef Fat is very low in linoleic acid and much cheaper for the pet food industry to use than a good quality vegetable oil such as Flax, or nutritionally rich chicken fat
GLYCERIN, 1 Star - Sweetens food, used as humectant (keeps food moist), interferes with nutrient assimilation, particularly of fat soluble vitamins. Chinese manufactured product can be contaminated with Diethylene Glycol and Methanol and pet food companies ARE allowed, via an FDA loophole, to use cheap INDUSTRIAL GRADE Glycerin, Sorbitol and Propylene Glycol, rather than food grade, in DOG food, which has caused ORGAN FAILURE and DEATH in humans and animals. Glycerin from China India or the US, is usually a byproduct of BIODIESEL production. In the US the substrate is generally Corn. In India and China, some biodiesel is made by fermenting Jatropha, a highly toxic plant. For every gallon of biodiesel, there is one PINT of Glycerin looking for a home, so this stuff is ending up everywhere, but there is NO test for the lethal Jatropha toxins such as Ricin and Curcin, and the FDA is desperately looking for one right now! Jatropha is one of the things associated with HGE in dogs. An FDA Notification to Industry warned that products using oils, glycerin, or protein that were derived from the Jatropha plant have toxic effects
LIVER FLAVOR, 2 Star - Common food enhancer used, especially in cans. Cheap. NOT ANIMAL SPECIFIC.. could be anything. Generally extracted from diseased or decomposing tissue
STANDARD MINERALS , 2 Star
SALT, 1 Star – Never more than 0.5% of the total “starting” ingredients. Can be used to cover up the flavour of rancid meat and fat. Not a healthful addition but added to satisfy AAFCO’s required levels for Sodium
CARAMEL COLOR, 1 Star - Sugar-based color adds to hyperactivity, or can be prepared by ammonia process associated with blood toxicity in lab rats. Carcinogenic
DRIED CARROTS 5 Star - Good source of nutrients and fiber. NOWHERE near enough for nutritional benefit. Wil be a waste product!
DRIED PEAS, 2 Star , These will be FIELD peas, not the nice sweet green peas that most of you are familiar with! Source of protein, fibre and carbohydrates (OUR PETS don’t NEED Carbs!) These “Cow Peas” or Field Peas, hog grade. Also VERY high in LECTINS, pro-inflammatory Proteins linked to several chronic health issues in our pets, including Arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Peas are also high in OXALATES, associated with crystals and stones in the Urinary Tract in dogs and cats.
STANDARD VITAMINS, 2 Star
Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude protein (min.) 26%, WAY too Low!
crude fat (min.) 16.0%,
Carbohydrate (Cheap fikllers dogs don’t need) 36% WAY too High!
crude fiber (max.) 3.0%,
moisture (max.) 12.0%,

Today's analaysis! OL' ROY🤮🤮🤮
Ol' Roy (IN)Complete Nutrition Dog Food PROTEIN 21% (should be at LEAST 35%. Dogs NEED Protein!) Carbohydrates (Cheap fillers dogs DON’T need – 55%.. Shocking! This is slow euthanasia in a bag ☹
GROUND YELLOW CORN, 1 Star - Indicates “Hog-grade” source of protein/filler, NOT "whole" ground. Corn has high levels of OXALATES and should be avoided in pets with renal/bladder issues. Likely to be contaminated with potentially lethal Aflatoxins from mold. Will be organ-damaging, cancer- and infertility-causing GMO laced with poisonous Round-Up (Glyphosate)
MEAT AND BONE MEAL, 1 Star - Meat and Bonemeal is NOT "Meat" in ANY sense! It is a By-product of the rendering process (high temperature cooking of carcases and sundry animal remains). It is (species) non-descriptive. This can indicate 4-D Animals.. Dead, Dying, Disease, Dying and Disabled. It can legally include tumorous or diseased tissues plus bone meal can NOT be digested and assimilated well for calcium! It is BANNED for use in animal feedstuffs in most European countries due to its link with Spongiform Encephalopathies (think BSE or "Mad Cow Disease"). It IS banned in the US as a ruminant feed (your cows etc) Meat and bone meal is now utilized in Europe as a fossil-fuel replacement, and is commonly used as a fuel in cement kilns, landfilling and in incinerators. It was previously used as a fertiliser until the BSE outbreak when it was banned. In the USit is principally used as a low-cost protein source in dog food and cat food. There is NO testing on Meat and Bonemeal.. it is not required. The euthanising drug PENTOBARBITALhas been found in Meat and Bonemeal. It will also contain insecticides used as parasite control on animals as well as the drugs used to treat sickness that are present
in a dead animal. From the EPA themselves: "Meat rendering plants process animal by-product materials for the production of tallow, grease, and high-protein meat and bone meal. Plants that operate in conjunction with animal slaughterhouses or poultry processing plants are called integrated rendering plants. Plants that collect their raw materials from a variety of offsite sources are called independent rendering plants. Independent plants obtain animal by-product materials, including rancid cooking grease, blood, feathers, offal, and entire animal carcasses, from the following sources: butcher shops, supermarkets, restaurants, Veterinarians (DEAD DOGS and CATS), zoos, fast-food chains, poultry processors, slaughterhouses, farms, ranches, feedlots, and animal shelters (DEAD DOGS AND CATS)." Much of Big Petfood’s Meat and Bonemeal comes from China these days where it can be purchased at a ridiculously low $400 per ton. Over there, it could easily contain metal, plastics, cats and dogs, fa
and have a VERY high and dangerous heavy metal content. NOT good!Meat and Bonemeal WILL most likely contain Endotoxins (produced by Gram Negative Bacteria such as E. Coli) and these are NOT destroyed by high temperature rendering; severe sickness and organ failure can result!)
Soy beans have high levels of OXALATES and should be avoided in pets with renal/bladder issues, as they promote OXALATE stone formation.
POULTRY BY-PRODUCT MEAL, 1 Star – contains high temperature rendered and dried ground-up poultry (Chicken, Turkey, Duck) carcasses AFTER all the muscle meat is removed, Can include internal organs and legally include intestines, heads, beaks, feet, bones and undeveloped eggs – also diseased, infected or cancerous tissue, and feathers. Concentrated. Will have high levels of Arsenic. Can vary in quality from batch to batch. Poultry by-product meal is cheap but lacks digestibilitywhen compared to fresh meat. ALWAYS unfit for human consumption as ingredients can be in an advanced state of decomposition. WILL most likely contain Endotoxins (produced by Gram Negative Bacteria such as E. Coli) and these are NOT destroyed by high temperature rendering; severe sickness and organ failure can result!)
ANIMAL FAT, 1 Star - Disgusting, non-descriptive fat from the rendering process that can be ANY ANIMAL - rancid or 4-D (Dead, Dying, Diseased or Disabled,). Include a FIFTH “D” – Drugged, and a SIXTH “D” – Decomposing. Animals can be in an advanced stage of decomposition or loaded with PENTOBARBITAL (euthanizing agent) and it also includes rendered fats from any Roadkill, Euthanised CATS and DOGS from Veterinary practices and Animal Shelters, and Zoo animals. Note that old restaurant grease is also a common ingredient here
CORN GLUTEN MEAL, 1 Star - Waste product, cheap, non-nutritive filler but used as protein source -- can cause allergies and sugar imbalance. Corn, especially with the germ and/or bran/hulls intact, has high levels of OXALATES and should be avoided in pets with renal/bladder issues. Can also be contaminated with potentially lethal Aflatoxins from molds Will be organ-damaging, cancer- and infertility-causing GMO laced with poisonous Round-Up (Glyphosate)
NATURAL FLAVORS, 1 Star –Natural Flavors are made from the hydrolysis of animal waste products, even when putrified and rotting, and pets LOVE this stuff.. I call, it “Kitty Crack”, added to disguise the poor quality of the other ingredients, particularly those low in meat! It is the ONLY thing, along with ANIMAL FAT, that make the cheapest, nastiest foods edible!
BREWER’S RICE, 1 Star – The small milled fragments of rice kernels that have been separated from the larger kernels of milled rice. Brewers rice is a processed rice product that is missing many of the nutrients contained in whole ground rice and brown rice, thus reducing the quality. Rice, especially with the germ and/or bran/hulls intact, has high levels of OXALATES and should be avoided in pets with renal/bladder issues. Can also be contaminated with potentially lethal Aflatoxins from mold AND US produced rice has VERY high Arsenic levels! Chinese rice products have found to be contaminated with dangerous Melamine and Cyanuric Acid. "If the quality of the second heads are poor, they will be sold for pet food or dairy feed. Brewers rice is sold for pet food and dairy feed exclusively and, despite having little nutritional value is found in approximately one third of pet food sold in the US"
SALT, 1 Star - Can be used to cover up the flavour of rancid meat and fat. Not a healthful addition but added to satisfy AAFCO’s required levels for Sodium
TITANIUM DIOXIDE, 1 Star - Potentially carcinogenic ARTIFICIAL color used as white pigment, most often in paint
YELLOW 5, 1 Star Yellow 5 "Tartrazine" is derived from coal tar and is the number one allergy-causing dye in humans. It has been banned in several European countries. A variety of immunologic responses have been attributed to tartrazine ingestion by humans, including anxiety, migraine, clinical depression, blurred vision, itching, general weakness, heatwaves, feeling of suffocation, purple skin patches, and sleep disturbance
YELLOW 6, 1 star - Artificial color. In studies, Sunset Yellow has been found to damage kidneys and adrenals when fed to laboratory rats. It has also been found to be carcinogenic when fed to animals
RED 40, 1 Star - Artificial color, carcinogenic.
BLUE 2 , 1 Star - Carcinogenic, artificial color.

For anyone using this brand. A break down of what you are actually feeding to your pets🤮🤮🤮PURINA ONE SMARTBLEND True Instinct with Real Turkey & Venison Adult Dry Dog Food
TURKEY, 3 Star - Contains 84% water in the muscles. Can legally be from Dead, Dying, Diseased or Disabled animals (4-D), plus a FIFTH “D” – DECOMPOSING, and a SIXTH “D” – DRUGGED. Less protein nutrition in Dry food because once the water is sucked out, the chicken ends up WAY down the list – as low as 8% of dry contents - in the FINISHED kibble so best used in can food.
CHICKEN MEAL 3 Star – Rendered product. More protein than raw chicken since all water and fat have been removed. Good source of protein for cats and dogs. It is the dry, rendered product from a combination of clean chicken flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from whole or partial carcasses of chicken, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet and entrails. To create chicken meal, ingredients are placed into large vats and cooked at VERY high temperatures. This rendering process not only separates fat and removes water to create a concentrated protein product, it also kills bacteria, viruses, parasites and other organisms. BUT because meat can be rid of infectious agents through the rendering process, “4D” animals (dead, dying, diseased or disabled) – and yes, you can add a 5th “D” which is “DECOMPOSING”… ARE allowable chicken meal ingredients. WHOLE GRAIN CORN, 1 Star – Feed grade (old, moldy) not human-grade (healthier, fresher), can cause allergies, weight gain, blood sugar imbalances. May be contaminated with poisonous Aflatoxins from that mold. Has moderately high levels of OXALATES so unsuitable for dogs with kidney/bladder problems, or dogs with OXALATE stones. NATURAL FLAVOR, 2 Star - Common food enhancer used, especially in cans. Cheap. Could be from anything. Generally extracted from diseased or decomposing tissue. Doggy/Kitty Crack!
OAT MEAL, 3 Star - Crushed oat groats, nutritive fiber, can aid colon health. Will be FEED GRADE (think old and moldy and contaminated with poisonous Aflatoxins from mold)
