HEZA ROWDY BAR STAR (2023)

At this time, this will be the last son of Hang Ten Rowdy we offer for awhile .. These photos were taken this fall and I can tell you that he is getting thicker and prettier as the days go on - even all fluffy.

He is halter broke, excellent with his feet, has been trailered and hauled a handful of times. Straight and correct.

*He did sustain a cut when he was 5 months old on his neck. This does not hinder him in any way. Get him before we start him this spring and the price increases.

Bandits papers finally came yesterday after the usual rigamarole with AQHA I tend to find myself in with papers!

But ... I get to send them right back because now he's a gelding on them. I checked, he's no gelding. 🤣🧐🤔

From the moment this black beauty was born, he was just 'that horse'. That horse that we knew would be hard to see leave the ranch ... BUT, our sweet boy Joe (HANG TEN MR COOL) headed south to Arizona with Grady Quam and we can't wait to see where these two go together.

We did some traveling this spring/summer to get some mares bred while we figured out our next steps after losing Smokey. So first up confirmed in foal a few months ago is PEPPYS PEACHES OLENA (Cheyanne).

It was an absolute pleasure working with Shannon & Shawn and we are so excited for a foal from their beautiful stud SB GUNNABLITZYA. We won't be sad if baby is the same color as the top photo ;)

Not only is he gorgeous, that brain between the two ears is a good one.

We knew the chance we were taking bringing him home and knowing absolutely nothing about his past ... but he has been a gentleman and a treat to be around and work with! Almost too easy ;)

A bit of an unexpected addition & a pretty delightful story to share.

Shawn & I have made it an ongoing tradition to hit up our local small town horse auction during the summer .. mostly to have lunch and walk the back pens because there have been some diamonds in the rough (which sadly, there are more of the rough than diamonds) that have been found over the years.

As we meandered through the alleys, we stopped at this guy. Clearly a stud, no information. His mane was a tangled mess, his feet hadn’t seen the trimmers or rasp for quite some time. He had a big kind eye that greeted us immediately at the gate to which Shawn said “he’s probably going to have to come home with us.” Me - sure sure, carry on ..

Lot 18. He comes in. They mentioned he has papers and they read off a few names on said papers. I get a nudge and two big eyeballs staring at me telling me “bid.” The feeling was right and it all happened real fast.

I hustled to the front desk to get his papers and to make sure all was good and well - to run into his owners son. Sadly this guy landed here due to no fault of his own all the way from Grande Prairie - his beloved owner had passed leaving the son who knew not a thing about horses to deal with her estate.

The stars aligned I suppose for us that day. His confirmation & disposition are second to none .. and that mane and tail. He's a looker. 😍😍

In case anyone was wondering how our stud who made his travels from southern Saskatchewan to northern Alberta is doing ... fat & happy. Always the first to show up for his scratches or to be caught. Just how we love them around here.

Did some photos yesterday. First stop was to visit some of the mares!

Jesse. This little sorrel mare. She came to us at a year and a half old and has been our most loved mare. She was there for our engagement, our wedding in the mountains, we chase cattle on her, she has given us a brilliant minded c**t .. she has a huge motor, a kind heart and the quirkiest personality. There are no fancy bloodlines that we are aware of because there are no papers (sadly!), but we know whatever the combo was to create her, it was a real smart one.

We let Bandit in with the 2/3 year old geldings …. And it was about as uneventful as we expected it to go. 😁

We were laughing last night while riding the rope horses and racing across the field … ‘maybe we should have saddled up the three year olds for a more relaxing ride 🤣😉.’ Doing good by these young minds.

We love getting updates on Bo from Jeff and Tammy Quam! The bay beauty has been heading and the progress has been 👌🏻
