Our rats are health tested negative against all zoonotics, including RBF. Health/temperament guarantee and lifetime breeder support. 🇨🇦 🐀🐾 Thank you for visiting my page! 💓🐀Inspirit means to encourage and enliven or fill with spirit, and it is my belief that rats do just this. I have been involved with animals for over 30 years and previously bred German Shepherds, also very focused on ethics and

genetics, and worked with breeders internationally. In a past career I also worked as a dog trainer and did a lot of rescue work as well. Because of life changes and family commitments I had to step away from that 15+ years ago. Over the years I was introduced to rats and their intelligence and social/empathetic nature and value as therapy animals quickly won me over (once I got past the tails!!). I work as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and I am a strong advocate for mental health and do feel that animals who show empathy and high emotional intelligence are valuable to help people of all ages through struggles. With the rise of everyday expenses for people, I feel that rats are a great family pet with dog-like traits at a much lower cost and lower maintenance. My focus is on small-scale breeding as a hobby, breeding for health and temperament. Working with other ethical and well-established breeders - tracking genetics to work on goals, and being committed to learning. I am dedicated to promoting rats as wonderful pocket pet companions and helping to reduce the stigma surrounding them. Our rats are tested annually for zoonotic diseases to ensure no health risk to the public. We also occasionally offer our retired adults to approved pet homes at no cost. Our rats receive extensive time outside the cage each day and handling by our kids/family right from day one. This early handling and exposure to new sounds/situations is valuable in contributing to optimal development and increased confidence when they go to their new homes. Our rattery offers a 12 month health and temperament warranty with replacement or refund, and lifetime breeder support. We are located in Kamloops, however transport may be available elsewhere for minimal fee, and we have references from families throughout BC! The full colour palette litter photo update! 😁🥰🐭🐾 as a closed Rattery, it is harder to bring in different colours to work with, and always a risk of bringing in pathogens without doing more health testing. So feeling thankful for this litter with a variety of recessive colours that popped up! Sometimes the breeding dice works out 🙂

Going back 3 years… this came up on my memories, my original heart rat Nyla who inspired Inspirit Rattery to form. Nyla was also Moose’s mom 🥰 I always said she was the rat version of a Labrador Retriever… the prettiest face, maybe not the brightest but allll about her snacks and her people. She would even play hide and seek with me for cheerios lol. These videos I was transitioning out of working in the hospital after being there in midst of COVID and high stress shifts.. and my time with Nyla helped with that, realizing these little ones truly are a lot like dogs 🥰🙏Just one of those carefree rats that makes you smile and very therapeutic.

RIP, Inspirit’s Moose (first in the video)… Moosey was from our very first litter. He was born way back on June 2, 2022 and him and his brother Mickey were out of my first heart rat Nyla. I didn’t expect him to live this long, as Nyla had heart issues as she aged and retired her and that line after her first litter. But Moose stayed on as a pet and genetics are funny as he outlived everyone and never had any heart issues 🥰 unfortunately he developed a ZGT this week (zymbal’s gland tumor) and I know those become very painful for the rat and aren’t treatable, so with his age decided to help him cross the rainbow bridge while he was still comfortable 🌈

even with the seniors it still hurts to lose them, :( he was a funny rat, loved his snacks and was such a mellow guy like his mom and so good with everyone.

Here is a video of him last year with his buddies, it’s nice to have good memories to look back on🐭💞

Astor is a super mom… the size of her nest, 5” + deep bedding 😆 no babies escaping that. 😁🥰🐭
*this also shows her temperament, allowing handling. some females will display hormonal aggression where they become very protective of their babies, biting anyone that goes near the nest. While it is an instinct, it isn’t ideal or acceptable when breeding for pets as this can translate into the babies also having issues with hormonal aggression as they mature. So breeders select away from this to reduce any risk. Thankfully not an issue with these lines 🙂
