My name is Matina and I am the owner of "Ride and Shine". I am a PATH Certified Riding Instructor and I have over 7yrs of coaching experience.

I currently have 4 lesson horses I teach on, or if you have your own horse, then I can come to you!

As a busy season at Ride and Shine comes to an end, an ode to the horses that made it all possible 🤍 :

I am a lesson horse.
I am a horse that isn’t as recognized as the top hunter jumpers, the best western pleasure horse, or the 1D barrel horse, I am a lesson horse. I am the backbone of the foundation to do all of those things. I am a lesson horse.

I am not loved by one person. I am loved by several people. I don’t have my person, I have my people. I am a lesson horse.

I will teach your child and yourself more than just to ride. I will bring your child out of their shell. I will teach your child about life. I will be yours and their shoulder to cry on. I am a lesson horse.

I will bring my family the joy of teaching kids. I will bring my families business growth. I am so loved by my family, even if they don’t express it everyday. My family allows others to show me love and enjoy me. I am a lesson horse.

At the end of your childs’ journey on a lesson horse, they will out grow me. They will find one that jumps higher, a horse that is show quality, a horse much faster than me. But, I will never outgrow being a lesson horse. I will be the one that loved your child and helped your child grow into the rider and person they are. I am a lesson horse.

At the end of my time as a lesson horse; I will be covered in grey hair. Each grey hair came from each hour I spent as a lesson horse. I will be in a field of green grass, I will be taken care of as I was when I was a lesson horse. I will watch your child from across the pasture love her new horse. But, I will love your child more than any horse can. I will be the backbone of the business, the family, and your child. Don’t forget about me, I am a lesson horse.

Ride and Shine had so much fun at the Barriere Fall Fair and Rodeo Gymkhana yesterday ✨
Everyone went home with ribbons, prizes, money, memories and smiles 🤍

Last Tuesday at Teen Camp was
WET and COLD 🌧️
That didn't stop these cowgirls from learning and staying busy... the girls learned about saddle fit and how to check their tack for wear and tear.
Then we worked on Vision Boards and Manifesting our futures 🤍✨

These girls all braved the cold, rainy weather today at Teen Camp 🌧️🤍
We may have gotten soaked, but they still had fun working on desensitizing and de-spooking some younger and some newer horses 🐎
I think they can all confidently apply these skills and tools in the future to help any horse they encounter 💪🏼

Congratulations to all these girls and their winnings this weekend at the Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association Benefit Barrel Race 🐎
Ellie won a pair of reins + money on Georgia
Isabella won a beautiful halter + money on Mojo
Taylin won spur straps, polos and money on Indy
Taleya won a bag of grain + money on Fox
Avery won money on Boo and did me a huge favor by getting Coors "peewee ready" for the next race

What an amazing way to spend the weekend while supporting a great cause 🤗

What a fun evening at JP arena on Tuesday night!
I don't know what I was thinking wrangling 6 students + racing 2 of my own horses, but memories were made and I wouldn't change it for the world! 🥰🐎
We definitely had some curve balls thrown at us, but I am so proud of how each and every one of these girls handled everything and every single one of them left with a smile on their face, excited to try again at the next one 🤍✨
The encouragement these riders have for eachother is a feeling like no other, and I am just in awe that I get to be a part of it.

Spirit is officially the Apple Bobbing Champion of Summer Camp 😂🍎☀️

The kids LOVE having apple bobbing races with the horses 🐎 and it's such a fun way for the horses to enjoy a hydrating treat during these hot days! 🥵
