♻️Kamloops Search and Rescue has partnered with and to help sell dog toys made from retired search and rescue rope, and retired rope from Coast Ropes and Climb Base5’s.
💡The idea for the toys was the brainchild of KSAR volunteer Tom Rankin, who took the team’s retired ropes and turned them into dog toys as a fund-raising exercise. It kept the rope out of the landfill and produced a fun toy for dogs.
➡️Dwight Yochim, a member of Coquitlam SAR, adopted Tom’s idea and produced 150 toys, which quickly sold out.
💟This unique partnership, combining retired rope and the knot tying skills of SAR volunteers with the ability to sell them will help support search and rescue and allow pet parents to feel good about their purchase. The BC Search Dog Association has already ordered 30 dog toys for their fall training camp.
💯All proceeds are going to both Coquitlam and Kamloops SAR teams.
To purchase a toy:
📢In Kamloops: contact Tom at: [email protected].
📢Order online: https://coastropes.ca/products/search-and-rescue-fundraiser-upcycled-dog-toys
Thanks in advance for your support! (DG DY)

Tomorrow, a cold front is forecast to sweep across northern B.C., generating strong winds, thunderstorms and the potential for dry lightning. With recent hot, dry weather, new wildfire starts are anticipated, particularly in northern regions.

Although southern portions of B.C. will be less impacted by this weather event, the Southern and Central Interior may experience increased winds and isolated dry lightning.

We are prepared to respond to new wildfires and increased wildfire activity. With the potential for aggressive fire behaviour and high rates of spread during these weather conditions, we ask everyone to pay attention to local updates and alerts in your area, stay up to date on the current wildfire situation and check for bans and restrictions in your area.

"HOT" TIPS FOR SAFE SUMMER RIDING

As you enjoy some fun in the sun with your favorite equine, make sure you understand how the combination of heat and humidity can take the fun part out the equation — and potentially even turn into a dangerous situation for your horse.

When riding in hot weather, remember to take precautions and use your common sense. Remain vigilant for dehydration and for signs of heat exhaustion, as the situation can quickly escalate into heat stroke. If your horse looks hot and tired, it's time for a drink, a cold bath and a break in the shade.

Consult your veterinarian for more information, or learn more about the signs of heat stroke on our website at https://aaep.org/issue/heat-stroke

Every year, the days leading up to and following the 4th of July, shelters everywhere fill up with animals frightened by fireworks.

While I honestly wish fireworks were never used, that's something that will never happen.

Currently, many shelters are at maximum capacity and there's no room to house anymore animals. While some shelters claim to be "no kill", don't be fooled, EVERY shelter has to make difficult decisions.

Please....beginning July 1st, put a phone number on your pet. You don't have to spend any money. Grab some tape duct tape works great and a sharpie or a ink pen and make the minimal effort to keep your pet from ending up at a shelter.

Even if you think there's no way they can or will escape your property, just do it.

If you love your pet(s) it's your job to protect them.

Finding a stray animal with a phone number makes it SO SIMPLE to reunite them with their owner.

Let's make a difference this holiday and keep animals from ending up at the shelter.

Please spay/neuter your pets.
We are drowning in homeless pets😔
