It's a common question! Do I have to treat my dogs all the time.
My simple answer is yes and no 🫣🤣
Clear as mud right?
When they are LEARNING I say feed after they complete a command. (Can be kibble or treats depending on situation)
Once they KNOW the command then play the lottery system with them to reenforceme the act.

Dog Socialization.
There are 3 main categories. Dog to Dog, Dog to Person and Dog to Enviroment.
Although this may seem totally straight forward there are many things to consider with Socialization.
What is the dogs past experiences?
What is the Dogs age?
What else is happening around that create problems with experience?
Is the Dog in a fear period?
How experienced is the Dogs handler?

Does your dog disrupt the class?
When searching for Dog Training Classes, make sure you get the right Trainer.
I get countless clients who have had their barking or excited dogs hidden during class time. Due to the Trainer not being able to handle the situation correctly.
The solutions to these two behaviors have typically easy peasy solutions but do not fall in the positive only camp. So their dogs end up being hidden and now are crazier than ever. You don't say?
First off, dogs eyes are NOT their first sense like ours. The sense of SMELL is their first sense.
Hiding them behind crates and blankets does little for their excited state. It may even magnify the situation.
When a dog gets above a 6 on the excited scale, you need something to catch their attention either more rewarding or some consequence for that behavior.
Dogs communicate through energy, body language and touch. When our dogs are acting out in class and are banished for it actually creates more energy BECAUSE the owner maybe feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and confused. Those emotions create energy in the human which leads down the leash into the dog.
"Fido shh, shh, fido, shh, be quiet, oh my gosh I'm so sorry, fido shhhhhh."
Sound familiar? Feel familiar. When your heart rate goes up....so does the dogs.
Go get some Pet Corrector. (Compressed air) Here are your steps. **Not permitted in Positive Only Classes.
1. (Fido is barking) Calmly tell Fido a command. [quiet, no bark, banana whatever you want but be consistent]
"Fido quiet"
2. Let the dog CHOOSE! They are smart. If the dog chooses to continue barking. Calmly hit the spray button behind and away from you. The dog stops because that's startling.
"Good" (say Calmly no energy!)
Repeat as soon as dog barks again. Yes you can treat on the command "good" if you choose. The main thing is giving your dog the choice to listen to your command or not.
We don't want to take the bark from our dogs, but there are times they shou

Is your dog a Door Dasher?
Yikes! It's not safe! Whether its dashing from an open front door, a open car door or a crate door.
Door Dashing creates excitement and can deliver some undesirable behaviors, not to mention it's dangerous.
Dashing out a front door could result in being hurt or hurting another animal or person because of the excited state of energy your dog has. 🦌
Your dog has no concept of highway danger and could door dash into traffic when you pull over. 🚗
Your guests don't appreciate the high energy dog that just catapult from the crate. 🫣

Unpopular opinion! But I totally know you can do it! 😎
Dog training is all about rinse and repeat! Lots of consistency and patience is required while learning new skills. 🐕
You biggest and best tool is having your foundation training SOLID. It's the first thing we teach in all our programs. 🐾
If you and your dog don't find a common language you will always be fighting against each other, and training takes a lot longer....which means frustration, confusion and giving up. 🐕
You number one goal should be having a solid foundation! 🐾

Nice Leash Walking! 🐕🦺
Leash Manners are the #1 request I get for training! People want their dogs to be able to walk by other dogs and people on their walks without reactions, pulling on leashes, barking etc. I love helping people and their dogs enjoy their walks instead of fighting ever step of the way! 🐩
We have finished our Spring group classes and break for summer. However, we are still doing our Private Training Sessions. These sessions give you one-on-one sessions with a trainer. Sessions happen at your house or a nearby park. 🏘
We have had TWO spaces open up for Private Training. Text Jessie at 778-220-9051 to book!
