🎃 Happy Halloween from Valleyview Vet Clinic! Sheldon is here to show off his pumpkin he made but also to share some pet safety Halloween tips and tricks for this spooky fun filled night! 🎃
1. Keep Treats Out of Paws’ Reach 🛑
While the treats might look yummy remember, chocolate and artificial sweeteners like xylitol are toxic for pets. Make sure all candy is stored securely!
2. Keep Pets Indoors 🏡
With lots of activity, loud noises, and doorbells ringing, it’s best to keep pets indoors. If you have a nervous pet a quiet, secure room to prevent accidental escapes might be best!
3. Double-Check ID Tags
In case of an accidental escape ensure your pet is wearing their ID tag, and that your microchip info is up to date. If you have any questions about microchipping your pet for future, feel free to reach out to us.
4. Watch for Signs of Anxiety 🐾
Keep an eye out for signs of stress like whining, pacing, or hiding. If you know your pet gets anxious try creating a comfy safe space for them. Calming music or white-noise machines can help drown out the sounds of trick or treaters and late night fireworks. For dogs, frozen Kong toys or safe chews can provide enrichment and distraction.
5. Walk Early 🚶♀️
For dog owners, consider taking your evening walk a bit earlier to avoid running into any spooky distractions. While we might think the costumes are cute and fun, our furry friends might not feel the same.
Let’s keep this holiday fun and safe for everyone, pets included! 🐶🐱🧡 Sheldon will be spending the evening showing off his best tricks for his favourite pet friendly treats with his mom, Sydney! 👻
