How are you keeping your dogs cool and hydrated in the summer sun?

Tonight my crew got bone broth soaked kibble frozen into moulds.

These refreshing ‘pupcicles’ added some interest to our lazy Saturday, and kept my dogs busy for about 20 minutes.🐕🐩🐕‍🦺🐾

Today new pledge Star ⭐️ the poodle is learning how to hold a group sit. Every couple of days I move her up a step. Stay tuned for a tight group shot!

Join us for the 1st Annual Big Gay Dog Walk: Kelowna Edition! ✨

Starting at the Sails at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 4th (that's tonight), we will be walking along the boardwalk to the Dog Beach located at the end of Lake Ave. via the tunnel under Hwy 97. Come dressed as you like! In casual comfy, or in full pride prima donna. We will be awarding incredibly generous prizes from Tail Blazers Kelowna in the following categories:

I’m needing a set of helping hands to take some video of me training dogs this spring using my iPhone.

Ideally someone that is available for 2 hours on a regular weekday afternoon starting the week of April 19th until June. All filming locations are in Kelowna, and I can provide transportation.

In exchange for your time and your steady hands, I can offer a credit for private dog training lessons.

I specialize in training pet obedience, tricks and service and therapy dog skills. Lesson credits are transferable with no expiry date.

Spot the difference. 🐶🐶🦊

It doesn’t matter if you call it ‘place’, ‘go to bed’, or ‘mat’- teaching your dog to chill out on cue is one of my favourite behaviours to teach pet dogs.

On Friday I had a great mat work training session at Jazzed Up Agility with Spud 🥔 the and puppies Diamond 💎 and Veda.

Teaching a dog to be still, stay and relax on a mat is a useful trick to teach if you want to encouraging calm behaviours at home and in public.

Once a dog learns that relaxing= working they start offering settled behaviours more frequently in their day to day lives. The more you reward this behaviour, the more your dog will repete it.

I am forever greatful to for trusting me with this unruly plotthound puppy all those years ago. Odie was among the first dogs that PIF rescued from a high kill shelter in LA.

When I adopted Odie he didn’t know how to sit, and I didn’t know how to teach him. I was thrilled when Cathy Nesbitt from Huckleberry Hounds taught us about the magic of marker training. With a common language between us, Odie has turned into a talented trick dog performer, and my steadfast companion.

When I got sick in 2012, he gave my life purpose and structure. He’s since attended hundreds of hours of therapy with me, learned many psychiatric service dog tasks, and is the life of the party wherever he goes.

I’m thankful for every day I have with him, and I credit him for making me the dog trainer I am today.
