Harvesting THE VERY LAST of the greens and carrots for the tomorrow 10-2 at the Parkinson rec centre. Stock is starting to run low and it will be too cold next week to justify heating the greenhouse so hopefully there’s a turn out for what will be my last market for 2022.

Despite the persistent sub zero temps we are experiencing none of the unheated hoop houses are yet to freeze. That means lots of fresh bunches of carrots and radishes for this weeks first indoor at parkinson rec 9-1

We struck gold!!! Farmers hold anyway. For the last 4 years I’ve been trying to source a leaf supply and yesterday we hit the mother load. Every last one of these will be fed back into the farm. This will provide thousands of pounds of carbon rich nutrients and free up some space in our landfill

As quick as the last of the over wintered spring onions come out for last week’s they are replaced with a bed of bok Choi/kohlrabi/fennel. In a few weeks time the walk ways and under the trellis will be planted out with cucumber seedlings. This hoop house is in use all year with new successions of constantly varying crops. This helps improve soil health and means little or no soil improvement is required between successions
