Kelowna Preservation Farm

Kelowna Preservation Farm We harvest our spray-free vegetables using spin-farming technique wed with principles of natural, organic farming and permaculture. Interested?

Kelowna Preservation Farm is closed, but organic farmers are being trained in the Okanagan, there is the Farmers' Market, the Naked Cafe serves Vegan Food, and there are groups such as Extinction Rebellion and Climate Challenge, and great food groups Kelowna Preservation Farm Society is a not-for-profit farm run by student, staff and faculty from UBC's Okanagan campus community focused on educatio

n and charity around naturally-grown, local food. We sell our produce locally, and also donate to local charities that provide food to low-income families and those who are in need (in past years, this has meant donating food to the Kelowna Community Food Bank and the Kelowna Gospel Mission). As a not-for-profit, we are dependent on the support of members and volunteers to realize our mission, and this is particularly so as we set about realizing our charitable and educational goals. This includes our Volunteer Apprentice Program, our WHISPER program, and our Local Food Community Program. Want to take part, to help us achieve our goals? Then just get in touch with our team, and once you hear about our ideas, tell us what you think. Part of our philosophy is that we work together, and that includes with new members and volunteers who share our vision of spreading the word about food security, sustainability, and health through food through education and work with and in the community.

if you are concerned for the environment, for the future of the planet, consider becoming involved; there is a new group in Kelowna, called Extinction Rebellion, there are other groups as well, working on these matters.
Do not anyone ever tell you what you do does not matter. Actually, what you do is essential, and your actions are part of the tipping point, where we start doing things right in this world! Be brave, face the fear, and act!

The PWPA is looking for a lively speaker to commemorate World Water Day, at an upcoming event at the Peachland Community Centre on Thursday, March 21.

Ideally, our speaker would be a passionate and informed advocate for water and sustainability overall.

Know anyone? We welcome your suggestions. Stay tuned to this page for more info about our upcoming World Water Day event.

Good news to share! The Province of BC. is making improvements to the laws that govern forestry.

Through the Office of the Chief Forester, initial work is underway to review and contemplate changes to the Forest and Range Practices Act and its regulatory framework. The provincial government writes that the act needs to change to “ensure that land managers have clear ability to promote and protect natural resources."
