From our founder Michelle Wandler:
It is with great sadness that I announce the desolving of my Registered Charity rescue Kelowna Kitten Rescue .
I started this rescue 2019 in hopes to help not only local cats and kittens, but also our prairie neighbour's in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
We had many adopters and fosters here in Kelowna and bringing kitties from other provinces only made sense, as long as I had room I'd take kitties from anywhere.
The rescue did take a toll on my mental health over the years, and I needed to pull back last year after some personal challenges, and an unfortunate physical attack.
I lost friends through the struggles, but I also made many more good friends through the rescue community. We had some outstanding bills prior to heading towards shutdown but our community helped to resolve those. Through it all, we always found support from our followers which we appreciated more than you know!
I'd like to thank all those who gave, shared, and supported us through our fundraising with return it depots!! All those bottles!! 3000$
I'd also like to thank Ashley Karnes at Catelowna for selling our kitty sunglasses for the past 2 years, such an important revenue for our bill payments, and to her for taking in many of our cats!
To our vet partners Kelowna Veterinary Hospital, Spall & Harvey Animal Hospital , and Veterinary Care - Kelowna, BC who were amazing in their support our rescue mission with their care and expertise.
And to our many volunteers, foster homes and those who helped transport, trap, and promote our cause.
We are very proud of the work we did and have no regrets. We helped 2000 lives find forever homes, and that's no small feat from a couple of chick's with a couple of traps.
We are just finishing resolving our Financials,
Any extra funds will be donated to Hinton & District Spay and Neuter Society - Hadsans
