Yesterday was a very tough day at Furkids, when we heard of the sudden and unexpected loss of Piper.

Every time I arrived to pick her up, i would look up to the window and see her hanging over the back of the sofa waiting for me. She made the most of every single hike - not willing to waste a second, so would find the fastest dog and run with them. When they tired, she would find a dog to play stick tug with. If they stopped playing there was always big Brodie, who somehow she realized she could get to chase her with a quick tug on his tail, like a wind up toy. Brilliantly smart, silly and the sweetest little soul, her enthusiasm was infectious and she brought a whole new level of energy to the group. She adored Arrow her fellow border Collie, and often they would spend the hike running together in their own world of pure glee. 

She should have hiked today, and I knew it was going to be heartbreaking to be up there without her. After a month of non-stop sun, instead today it was dark, stormy and cool. It perfectly encapsulated the sadness of the day. Our love goes out to her mom and dad, such amazing dog parents who gave her the most incredible life ❤️

Piper, I know you were up there having one last hike with us today and saying your final goodbyes. It truly won't be the same without you little buddy.❤️

With a high of 38 Celsius this week we are hitting the trails early, carrying lots of water, heading to ponds and finding lots of shade. Today we were finished and back at the truck before it reached 25 degrees. Stay safe!
