This guy is looking for a new home through no fault of his own. With the return to office now that the pandemic is done, he deserves to be in a house where not everyone is gone all the time.
Jeff is an 8 year old mini poodle, and is the most friendliest dog I've ever met. He still has puppy energy and no one who meets him would be able to guess how old he really is. He loves all dogs and people alike. He does have a high prey drive so a home without a kitty would be best.
He has been through multiple board and train programs and is a very disciplined dog. He rarely ever barks, and absolutely loves cuddles. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is raw fed, I use big country raw but any brand would work. I would like for him to continue being raw fed as he loves it, and I've seen a big difference in his health since he started raw food.
Please contact [email protected] for more information. There will be am adoption fee to ensure he goes to the right home.

Great reading
🤓 Every Tool Requires Skill 🤓
There is no magic tool on the market that will make your dog do or not do anything with you.
🧐 All tools require conditioning before use.
What does this mean?
Helping your dog to tolerate the sensation of things on them, dragging along behind them, clips being clicked, putting collars/harnesses/leashes on & off, in incremental stages, before any pressure is added. Excluding emergency situations, there is absolutely no excuse to not do it. Some dogs can be hypersensitive to stimulation/touch & require a more patient process. Pairing X tool with treats & patient handling, helps dogs a lot. It is not natural for a dog to be wearing things, that feel different with how we communicate through them, so we must be fair about it.
🧐 All tools require YOU to understand how to use them effectively & safely.
All tools are bad in unskilled hands. Just some do more damage than others. This is why it is important to read, watch, observe others & ask for professional help when needed.
🤔 A tool is nothing without a handler.
If you just put a tool on a dog, it's just a tool. If you just put a tool on a dog, follow along while it pulls & do everything against manufacturers instructions/trainer recommendations, that is not a tool issue.
🥰 Noone is making you use or not use anything. If you don't want to use X tool to improve your dogs behavior, quality of life, then don't. The limitations put on your dogs life, are a handler mindset. (Excluding genetic, medical for both dog & owner). There is a tonne of good information available from manufacturers & trainers these days. If you are unsure, then ask around.

This is a fantastic post.
Let's talk about *space*.
Space and territory are big news in the animal kingdom. Especially when it comes to the canine species. In wolf packs, if a lone wolf or another pack of wolves crosses another pack's territory- it can be fatal.
In this modern world, many of us are sharing the same spaces- and our dogs along with us; though many dogs haven't been equipped properly on how to do so. What happens then? Many of these dogs live in isolation since they don't know how to handle "the real world". Their lives consisting of nothing beyond the four walls of their home. If they're lucky, they may have a backyard to enjoy beyond this. No walks. No "life." Many may get rehomed or dropped off at a shelter with an unfair judgment and label attached to them. All because they weren't properly equipped and didn't understand social expectations.
Dogs don't come pre-programmed; and the ones who do come to us who've already had some life experiences, trauma, etc. can be worked with.
"Appropriate space sharing" (a subset of "socialization") is a skill we must develop in our dogs if we want them to be able to peacefully enjoy life alongside of us. Of course, every dog will come to us with their own set of characteristics, filters, fears and reservations, levels of confidence, etc. In order to *effectively* work with our dogs, we must know and understand thy dog.
Some dogs are introverts by nature; some are extroverts.
Some are overly confident, while others may fall on the more insecure side.
Some are a bit stronger in will and more dominant in nature, while others may fall on the softer side of the spectrum.
Some dogs are highly sensitive (which, in my experience, makes up the great majority of dogs with "behavioral issues"); others not so much.
Dogs are just as individual as people are, and it's so important we take this into consideration in all types of training- especially when we're trying to help them acclimate to, co-exist within, and navigate the various levels of space.
Now, navigating and sharing public and social space is one thing.
Personal and intimate space is another thing.
How would you respond to a complete stranger walking straight up to you, getting within an inch of your face and introducing themselves, then starting to touch you all over?
This is just as uncomfortable for many dogs as it is for people; yet, for some reason, we expect our dogs to tolerate this.
A "playful" dog does not mean a **socially skilled** and socially respectful dog (common misconception).
A dog rushing up to another dog (with any level of excitement - whether "happy" or with intensity) is not okay.
A person rushing up to another person (or dog) is not okay.
Anyone barging into another's personal and intimate space is not okay.
Not everyone deserves direct access into our personal and intimate space, and our dogs feel the same way. This is where advocacy comes into play. We've got to be their voice. It's up to us to advocate for them and their right to their personal and intimate space- relieving them of the pressure of having to advocate for themselves (which usually ends up becoming a false story that attaches to and follows them wherever they go).
Access into our personal and intimate space comes through the gateway of comfort, familiarity, trust, and relationship. Built over time and through consistent exposure. Relationships of any kind should never be forced.
The expectation in space sharing is to do so respectfully; much like teaching our children "appropriate manners" in public.
This. Is. Our. Social. Responsibility.
All dogs have the capability to share space, but all dogs don't have the *ability* to. This is why we "train". This is why we equip. This is why we develop.
If we want a dog who has the *ability* to navigate and comfortably share the various levels of space alongside us, a dog who feels safe, secure, and comfortable doing so- it's up to us to guide the way.
We have rescheduled and will be at Kemptville Pet Valu for Saturday March 25th !!

This is truly a terrible situation, that one person can destroy all the hard work of Wish You Were Home Small Pet Rescue has done over the years in just 24hrs. What a shame! Just by one person not having the facts, jumping to conclusions, spreading rumours has now cause some of their major supporters and contributors of those necessary items, food and necessities to now back out and discontinue their support.
I have to say that is very disheartening to see that this damage is truly a result of one person who did not think to reach out to the Rescue for additional clarification in this matter. And, by the post of that one person, other rescues and organization now jumped on the bandwagon assuming the worst. Still no facts to clarify and thinking the worse. Well, it’s terrible way to treat people who’s end goal is to help the animals.
I had been tagged in this situation, as I am Ruby’s dog Trainer and have been for over 6mths. Yesterday. I was on site doing a training session when I heard an bout what happened. As her trainer, I can contest that Ruby, is in excellent health and not the mother of the Pups that was posted this past weekend.
I would suggest that you conduct your own research in this matter, contact WYWH for clarification & then make your decision on the facts.
It’s a shame !!!!!!!
Good afternoon WYWH rescue followers,
I wanted to come forward and discuss with you what has happened since Sunday’s courtesy post that you may or may not have seen where I was trying to find homes for my niece’s puppies.
When she had the puppies, I offered my help to find them homes and I was going to use an application for people interested so I could screen candidates because I did not want these puppies ending up just anywhere. She was very happy that I was going to help her.
I posted this on my page as I think there are kind hearted decent people who care solely for the best for animals and I would be able to find a forever home. What I didn't realize or expect was that my life would turn into a nightmare.
Shortly following this post a large supporter dropped us from their list. There were accusations made, and the selling of puppies was a big one.
Day after day I continue to have the stress added as support is removed and people stop following to save their image but still follow us other ways.
Last evening I was informed by a very trusted source that one main issue in this whole gong show is that a RUMOUR was started that the puppies are my dog Ruby's and not my niece’s because when I began the rescue I knew zilch about much and had planned to breed her once. (Which NEVER happened and there is ample proof of that.) T&T Dogs Unleashed Professional Dog Training Service I quickly learned and decided with family and info that was suggested, not to breed her.
I'm very confident that I know where this story unfolded, and am breaking ties with those involved.
I'm very grateful that a close rescue contact and friend came to me and informed me of this situation.
I'm asking you as a community of followers and rescuers and supporters to stand up and keep your eyes open. If you've been here and you know that my dog has not had puppies, if you hear stories, if you hear our name trying to be destroyed, please act appropriately if you STAND BY THE ANIMALS.
This was a horrible situation to be in and people trying to destroy my reputation (having some kind of personal agenda against me; I don’t know why) are not even thinking about these poor little souls, it is the animals that only suffer in the end.
As my trust has gone down to zero for most people, I am freezing all pending adoptions until I wake up from this nightmare.
No animals will leave my home, or foster homes until my OK has been given.
This harassment that I, and fellow supporters have faced is completely disgusting. It's childish, and those who have had a part in it do not have the animals best interest at heart, they are being ignorant, and selfish.
These animals are the only reason I'm here. They are why I remain.
If you have supported us for a year or a day and you are strongly behind us, please remember that your support means the world to us.
Be kind. Be thankful. Be strong. If you hear things, never assume they're true. If what you hear bothers you that much, go to the person and ask if you can chat, or how can you help.
Don't let this happen to another rescue because it will as it so easily happened to me.
Stop this bully FOR THE ANIMALS 🙏🏻
