Ever wonder why your dog sometimes quickly whips around to lick themselves? Or why when your dog interacts with other dogs they cannot stop smelling and/or licking your dog to the point your dog is overwhelmed by all this unwanted attention? Well there may be a simple answer to this issue.
We all know about the a**l gland secretions that are dogs should naturally secrete when having a bowel movement. The really stinky stuff! 🤢 This a**l gland secretions can be pretty thick and sticky, causing some residual secretions to remain on your dog.
Loxley is a healthy Japanese Mastiff who has normal bowel movements with a**l gland secretions. But almost every second day, I take a damp throw away rag or wipe and clean him up. I think I missed a day this week, so this is after 3-days.
I had shared this with a client who was explaining how terrible the other dogs go after her dog at the dog park. She thought may as well give it a try. She could not believe that by doing this she was able to resolved all that unwanted sniffing and licking of her dog.
Taking care of your dog's overall health, including good nutrition, grooming, and hygiene, promotes good health, behaviour, and Happy Dogs!

Let's talk NAILS!

Our Basic Pedicure service is offered for dog's who allow their owners to trim their nails but because we trim nails on a daily basis, their owners feel more comfortable having us trim their nails.
Even if the owner needs to muzzle their dog to trim their nails, that's okay, we don't mind muzzling them for their Basic Pedicure.

If your dog does NOT allow you to trim their nails, and you have not introduced them to being muzzled for nail trims, then we will NOT be able to offer the Basic Pedicure service. Your dog's safety and our safety is always our first priority.

Keeping your dog's nails trimmed is very important for your dog's overall health.

This was just so odd. The dogs had been following this bright yellow moth around the yard for some time. Only Stanley wasn’t interested in it. Perhaps that’s why it chose him to hitch a ride on?! 😊

Wow! The summer sure seems to be going by so quickly!
We have just a few things to remind clients who have previously used our services and to share with new and/or potential clients.
1. Please DO NOT approach any of the fenced areas when attending our facility even if your OWN dog is within the fenced area. Re-directing excitement to see their own to another dog can quickly become a very unsafe situation for the dogs and staff that are interacting with your dog.
2. If you are trying to book a reservation and you are not able to select a specific date and/or time to pick up or drop off your pet, it is because we are NOT OPEN during the time you are trying to select on that particular date. Please refer to our website, Paw Partner App, Google, and page, for our hours of operation. We have done our very best to ensure they are communicated to you on every available platform as well as provided explanations for our hours on the FAQ page of our website.
3. If you could please try to provide a reasonably sized plastic container for your dog's food for the duration of their reservation that would be greatly appreciated. Bringing us a 20lb bag of dog food for your 30lb dog for 3-days is a bit unreasonable. Imagine trying to store 20, 20lb bags of dog food in your kitchen! Not to mention trying to control the buffet offered to the mice which we are constantly trying to keep under control!
4. Dogs are to remain in the vehicle until you have checked in with us and we have advised you to bring your dog inside. We have MANY dogs visiting our facility this time of year, which means we are exercising many dogs while people are coming and going. Not all of our guests are friendly and letting your dog out of the vehicle without knowing if it is safe to do so, puts EVERYONE at risk!
5. We are a family run business, we have just one staff member who works with us. We would really appreciate if you tried to respect our business hours. Perhaps think about your own dog's response to someone knocking on your dog unexpectedly, and then times that by 20 dogs! And can you imagine living next door to those 20-plus dogs! We have a great relationship with our community along Maple Hill Road, and we make great efforts to maintain this relationship to ensure we can continue to offer our services to you and your dog(s)!
