Having access to acres of fields, railway trails, access roads, in our quiet country community, we try to offer every dog an outdoor activity that they enjoy. Kathy is a certified hydrotherapist and massage therapist, completing her canine behaviourist certification. Grant has been working with an

imals his entire life, having been raised on his family dairy farm and taking over ownership and operation of the farm from 1998-2015. So he has a lot of patience when dealing with animals and takes it slow with those who need a bit more time to warm up to us. Our daugther Gertrude, has also been around animals her entire life, from our family dairy farm, raising chickens and pigs, sharing her home with 3-5 family dogs, she is a great help with our smaller guests and the cats who come to visit.

He never stops surprising me… watched Gertie play hockey last night and was the best boy! As always! 🥰
This is socialization training. Many think it is interacting with other dogs. That is a very small part! It is ensuring your dog is able to respond to you by displaying acceptable behaviour in various social interactions.

We will discuss the nutritional needs of a dog conditioning to weight pull, or any other sport, while also discussing how to maintain the average dog’s weight and offer additional nutritional support they might need. We will also be offering opportunities to come out and refresh some training skills.
These are drop-in sessions, registration online is open until 24-hours before the session starts.
Any questions just send us a message!

Update on Loxley’s progress after having aspirated pneumonia.
Hospitalized October 27th, antibiotics for 2-weeks, follow up November 8th, more antibiotics for another week, emergency vet November 21st, more antibiotics for another 2-weeks, follow up today significant improvement but still congestion and inflammed airways. Let’s see if he continues to improve without any further interventions.
Gained 5 more pounds! 😮

After this experience he’s decided a few liver treats aren’t worth it! 😊
Anyone who hasn’t had a mastiff doesn’t know what a “lapdog” really is! 😂

We have read the articles regarding the recent concern for Canine Respiratory Illness and have also spoken to local veterinarians. As the following link will state there seems to be no reason for increased concern but to continue to practice normal risk management routines that you have always practiced.

If you have any questions about your pets upcoming stay at our facility please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The Holiday Season is almost here and we are gearing up to share the Holiday's with many of your doggies and cats too, we wanted to share some important information. As you may have heard there is a lot of media recently about Canine Respiratory Illness of unknown cause becoming a concern for dog owners in Ontario. We have done considerable research on these postings and articles within the media, as well as have spoken directly to a veterinarian from the North Grenville area and as well a veterinarian from the Emergency Clinic in the Ottawa area. We feel that after our research and discussions that we can safely inform our clients that there is no more concern for your dog's than there has been in the past.

We are always aware of the risks of Respiratory Illnesses, and regardless of whether there is an outbreak or increase risk to our dogs, our cleanliness standards have always been a Top Priority. Using accelerated hydrogen peroxide for all our cleaning needs, this product kills bacteria's associated with Respiratory Illness within 30-60 seconds and breaks down bodily fluids on contact. We use this product for both our indoor and outdoor kennel runs, for floors, all surfaces, and outdoors as well, spraying our off leash yard areas and play structures.
We continue to require that all dogs and cats boarding at our facility have the Core Vaccines as recommended by the Ontario SPCA & Humane Society.
https://ontariospca.ca/blog/pet-health-corner-what-vaccinations-does-your-pet-need/
These vaccines should be administered 2-weeks prior to boarding. Please be advised young, senior, and dogs with chronic health conditions, are still at risk due to compromised immune systems.

What’s in your dog’s bowl?
It’s the most important role you have as your dog’s owner, to ensure the best nutrition for optimal health and wellness.

Supper is the same except no breakfast supplements, instead evening supplements, 5 Scoops Myospet, and 1/4 cup Bone Broth.

Not sure what your dog needs… we feed lots of dogs and through knowledge, experience, and education, we can offer you a place to start in this overwhelming area of nutrition. Contact us for more information; [email protected]

I think Harvey is bored of being sick… 🙂 I love to see how my dog pack reacts to changes to normal routine. Everyone is acting differently because their dog pack “alpha” is not 100%.
Most times they appear to be concerned about staying where he is, but they do take the opportunities to do things they wouldn’t normally do. Such as take HIS toys, not play with them but just sit with them under their legs or head and nap out in the garage where Lox usually naps.
Progress is slow but still progressing so I’ll take it! 🥰❤️

The vet mentioned it was hard to hear his lungs for all the snoring! With a stethoscope on his chest he never acknowledged them. They were surprised at how he could ignore everything around him, even them! ❤️

Loxley usually causes some hours of sleep lost when he decides to sleep in the bed! But this is the first time he has caused me an entirely sleepless night… ☹️ Poor guy.
I was at the clinic this morning 7:15am, spoke with the overnight vet who was very empathetic and optimistic of Loxley’s progress.
He still needs some oxygen therapy but they have decreased the amount and he is panting less so breathing is not as laboured.
The severity of Loxley’s condition is because although the was appearing to be over kennel cough the violent coughing spells he had and given he is already a “wet mouthed” dog, he injested saliva and/or fluid back into his lungs and airways causing the aspiration.
Today is better and tomorrow will be even better! 🤞

10/28/2023

Just to update those who have asked about Loxley.
His oxygen saturation levels were very low at 90%, his chest x-ray revealed fluid on his lungs and around his lungs.
He is currently in the “ICU” area as they performed a pleural aspiration (remove fluid around the lungs) to ensure no complications.
Hopefully we have results from the lab on what is present in the fluid so we can ensure we have him on the best medications for the best recovery.

I am shocked at how quickly he went from improving to in distress… the results are not back yet to confirm a diagnosis but he is being treated for pneumonia.

We want to ensure all our clients know we continue to make facility cleanliness and the well being of our guests a high priority here at MHCC. Any dog(s) suspected of showing signs of illness while in our care are not in contact with any other dogs while at our facility and if necessary the owner and/or emergency contact will be contacted to retrieve the dog(s).

Take care of your 4-legged family members and never forget how “Priceless” they are! 🥰
