Last Vet trip before surgery in June 🩺

We had to of course, hit up Winners in New Mina’s to pick out a new stuffy 🐊

Nixon had all the ladies goo-gooing over him this afternoon.. They all got a kick out of him picking out his own toy and carrying it throughout the store, up to check-out 😅😝

He’s definitely a character that’s for sure 🫶🏻

I understand that I have been very vague about what happened in our home last week.

With a very heavy heart, I just wanted to let everyone near and far know that I lost my beloved Maine C**n, Clinton & our beautiful little barn kitty, Kush.

Eight days… EIGHT days before Clinton’s birthday we received some devastating news. Resulting both cats being tested for.

I personally have NEVER had a kitty or ANY cat for that matter contract such a horrible virus. 🦠

I tried everything in my power to nurse them back to health! For a few weeks, they started to have normal BM’s, the throwing up, diarrhoea, weight loss and the peeing had subsided. Appetite came back. But, only for a short time.

With further testing and investigations, we had to make a very hard decision! As both our boys were suffering.

Anyone who’s ever owned Maine C**n, will only be able to understand how dog like these beautiful creatures actually are. I was extremely proud of my big boy. I will hold a place in my heart for him. I’m not sure how much more heartache & disappointment I can take.

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from one amazing lady, whom I wish came into my life sooner.

Solar Eclipse 🌖🌕💫

Hello friends!

The total solar eclipse is just around the corner, and just about everyone is ready to see the once in a lifetime event. We are seeing some mixed information about pet/wildlife safety.

Contrary to what some may read, the sun itself is not any more dangerous during the eclipse. The reason protective eye wear is recommended for humans (who wish to observe the eclipse) is because many of us will be staring directly at the sun that day, which is something we typically avoid.

For our pets, and outdoor wildlife, that day will be similar to any other day. Our pets don’t stare at the sun, so there is no need to keep them indoors on April 08 for any extended period of time. They may notice the change in temperature, but it is unlikely they will exhibit any unusual behaviour.

The eclipse can be more unsettling for birds. The dimming of the sky can mimic behaviour at dusk and during early storm formation, so some birds may demonstrate a wind-down behaviour and there may be less activity in the sky during the peak eclipse. Once the sky returns to normal, so does their behaviour.
