Let the “oohs and ahhs” about how adorable they are begin!

We couldn’t agree more. AND … the story of how they came to us is deplorable.

The mom, Athena, was surrendered to us the day after giving birth to eight puppies by a man who bred his dogs. She was no more than 9 months old when bred - to her father.

A puppy herself. In**ed. It’s just terrible and it gets worse.

The puppies were all so sick. Four died. These three, Chia, Sesame (partially blind) & Poppy are now thriving and up for adoption.

The fourth, litte Tato, was born with a cleft palate, has been bottle fed by one of our vet techs and will need another surgery.

Make no mistake about it, the backstory of cute puppies for sale is a horror story.

The crisis continues. All the rescues and shelters are full. There are countless unwanted dogs.

It’s so bad that even breeders are surrendering full litters of puppies.

Please adopt and please, please, please educate everyone you know about the crisis behind the cuteness.

Don’t be fooled. It’s a trick with no treat for the dogs behind the scenes with irresponsible breeders.

Names: Mishie and Meekah
Age: Mishie is 4 and Meekah is 3
Breed: Mishie is 1/2 Akbash 1/2 Maremma and Meekah is 1/4 Akbash 1/4 Maremma 1/4 Lab 1/4 Husky
Genders: Mishie is a male and Meekah is a female
Location: Lanark, On
Spayed/neutered: Both dogs are fixed
Vaccinations: Both dogs are up to date on vaccinations
Behavior with other dogs: Mishie and other males don't always get along (especially intact ones) but is good with other easy going females. Meekah is typically great with most other dogs
Behavior with cats: Untested
Behavior with kids: Untested but they are big pups unaware of their size sometimes so may not be suitable around children not steady on their feet.
Other behavioral concerns: Mishie can bark when someone shows up, especially if he's in a new place and new sounds. Meekah is usually more relaxed about visitors but if in a new place she can initially bark.
Medical issues/concerns: No medical issues or concerns for either dog
Ideal home: Ideal home is to have a secured big property where we can run or we can sun ourselves. Yard must be fenced. We have thick coats for the winter so we love the snow. In the summer sometimes we like to bury down into a sandy spot to cool off. We absolutely love to swim! A family who isn't gone long hours is the best suit for us. We are potty trained but have not had to endure long hours alone inside. We used to have chickens and love to help collect eggs. Mishie and Meekah are a dad and daughter duo who are the sweetest pups. They are the biggest lap dogs and cuddle bugs. They love to swim, run after squirrels, and play with you or eachother! They are extremely well behaved on a leash for walks. They know how to sit, shake a paw, lay down and stay. They can easily take up an entire king sized bed. I would prefer they stay together, they would too!
