The best way to recycle your Christmas tree?

Now that the lights are coming off, the decorations being put away, many trees are tossed out on the curb, where they're carried off to landfills to rot.

Instead of sending it to the landfill, the Bervie Zoological Park is accepting discarded (real) Christmas trees. (No plastic/fake trees.)

Drop off your (real) Christmas trees for the animals to enjoy, at the Zoo's main entrance at 5138 Highway 9, Kincardine.

Trees must be chemical-free and natural. Please remove all decorations.

The Bervie Zoo is accepting trees until Jan.15th.

🎃 Repurposing a Pile of Pumpkins! 🎃

This Halloween, please don’t toss your pumpkins in the trash – repurpose them into nutritious and entertaining treats for the animals at the Bervie Zoological Park!

Pumpkins are a nutritious seasonal treat and are well-loved by a variety of animals, and are a novel way to provide enrichment. It promotes natural animal behaviours (such as foraging or stalking) and keeps animals mentally stimulated. Not only does it provide entertainment, but they are full of fiber and beneficial minerals, vitamins and nutrients. Pumpkin seeds contain a natural dewormer.

PUMPKINS: Carved/Uncarved

UNCARVED pumpkins are preferred as they provide greater nutritional value. Animals will eat and play with a carved pumpkin, but they get most of their nutritional value from the inside of the pumpkin.

Please:
🚫 NO paint or sprays
🚫 NO glitter
🚫 NO wax..as these are TOXIC to animals.

🙏Please remove all candles,🕯 lights, toothpicks/skewers and other decorations before placing the pumpkin in the bin.

Also accepting:
APPLES , PEARS ,SQUASH ,CORN
& STRAW BALES

📥 A collection area beside our house will have a sign for pumpkins, feel free to drop off at the Zoo at 5138 Highway 9, Kincardine

Calling all artists and stick people doodlers! Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to get your sketch on! This workshop is a fundraiser for the Bervie Zoological Park. We'll walk through the zoo and you'll learn about the animals as we draw! Instruction by Cati VanVeen and all materials are provided. A great evening to try something new, hone your skills, or just have fun!
