Recently I’ve had a few people inquire about my pricing and why I charge what I do. For those of you who don’t know, I charge $15 for 30 minutes (my minimum time) and $25 for an hour. I want to clarify a few things to put my pricing into perspective.
Every business, big or small, has costs and mine is no different. My price includes my gas as well as factoring in taxes I’ll pay at the end of the year.
My price also reflects the value of my time. I am a mother of two small children which means every time I head out for a job, I am packing them up to come along too which if you have kids, you know isn’t always the simplest process. I also make a point to have an open schedule for long weekends and holidays for the convenience of my clients. While you are at the lake or at New Year’s parties with family, I’m here making sure your fur baby is getting walked and cuddled. I am not a huge corporation and my bank account is not bottomless, I need to make some profit from this job for it to be worth it.
People pay $7 for a coffee, $180 for a single night in a hotel. At Petals and Paws, I am ensuring your pet, a member of your family has the highest level of care, straight from my heart. In my eyes, all of these costs, my time and the quality of my work is well worth what I charge, especially compared to the current average price for pet sitting. If you are unable to pay my rate, I’m sorry but I’m unfortunately not the sitter for you.
I am also a community member like all of you and I pride myself on reinvesting my money in our town by supporting local. With me you can know that your dollar is staying in Kindersley, supporting other small businesses. Petals and Paws is not a faceless corporation, it’s me, the mom you see at the kids’ gymnastics practice, the one waving at you when you drive by.
I understand things are expensive for everyone right now and we are having to stretch our dollars further but I am also paying the same prices for everything. I do this job because I truly love animals so much and have devoted my entire life to caring for them. I have been doing my pet sitting jobs for over 16 years. I have expansive knowledge and experience with exotic, farm and medically complex animals. When I am hired you are guaranteed the best care and attention for your pets. Your money stays local and you help a young family flourish.
With all of this being said, I want to say thank you to all my wonderful clients, family and friends who have supported and trusted me with their furry family members! I am beyond grateful be able to raise my kids at home and do what I love for a living. 🖤
