Guero is a quiet and sweet 4 year old. He takes a day or two to warm up to new people, but once he does, he’ll let you know when he wants attention and pets. Always ready for playtime, he loves chasing little toys and spending quality time with his humans. Guero enjoys sticking close, cuddling, and sharing cozy sleep. He's a respectful and loyal companion who consistently brings comfort.

Urgent, urgent!!
Foster desperately needed for Jamie. Jamie, previously known as Papaya was adopted as a wee pup and I assumed all was well. She was a little shy at the time but basically good with everyone.
Fast forward 6 mths, adopter reached out to return her, reasons given, changes to work schedules and kid's allergies.

In reality, it seems she has become super reactive to new people, lunging, jumping and "biting". (Not serious bites, no skin broken.)

The foster home we placed her in does not feel comfortable working on these issues, can anyone else help? We have a trainer lined up to assist.

She is medium sized, 8 mths old. We are told good with other dogs.

Please help us support SOS El Arca and The Snoopi Project’s sterilization campaign in September. Spay & neuter clinics are essential to help reduce the number of strays in Mexico.

In Mexico, only 25% of dogs are sterilized. For a female street dog, this can have big consequences. Female dogs in heat can be harassed and attacked by male dogs. One female dog can have 30 to 36 puppies over her lifetime further contributing to the street dog population.

By comparison, 47% of cats are sterilized in Mexico but face similar challenges.

Our goal is to fund 400 sterilizations in September! A donation of $30 covers one spay or neuter for a cat or dog. Please help us achieve our goal!

Meet Pepper: This sweet and spirited puppy is looking for her forever home!! She is a 10-week-old puppy with a brindle coat that boasts a charming mix of light and dark brown shades. This adorable pup was rescued from Northern Manitoba along with her five siblings, and she’s now ready to find a loving family to call her own.
Pepper is not just a pretty face; she has a personality that shines! While she’s incredibly cute and cuddly, she also knows how to hold her own and enjoys playful interactions. Despite her name, she doesn’t have a salty personality, but she sure does add some spice to life! Pepper loves to nibble on things and taste new treats. She’s also a fan of roaming around outside in the grass, exploring her surroundings with curiosity. Pepper is still learning to be housebroken. While she’s prone to mistakes from time to time, she is getting better every day. She’s very soft and cuddly, making her the perfect snuggle buddy. Plus, she makes the cutest little noises, almost like a kitten, which will melt your heart. Her mom is only 25lbs so we don't expect her to grow very big.

Pepper is looking for a home where she can continue to grow, play, and receive all the love she deserves. If you’re ready to add a bundle of joy to your family, Pepper is eager to meet you!

Paws Above Rescue had an amazing time at Ren’s Pets – Downsview for the second annual COPS and PAWS event! We spent the day with officers and Youth in Policing Initiative students from 32 Division – Toronto Police Service, as well as one of our foster families. Our adoptable pups – Jet, Pepper, Max, and Ruby – were showered with cuddles, attention, and plenty of treats. A huge thank you to everyone for making it a great day!

Introducing Jet, a 10-week-old puppy with a sleek black coat and a lively personality. This energetic pup was rescued from Northern Manitoba along with his five siblings, and he’s now ready to find a loving family to call his own. Despite his energetic nature, Jet also has a soft side and enjoys cuddling up with his favorite humans. His fur is like a soft teddy bear, making him irresistible to cuddle. His bark is quite adorable as he tries to yip at larger dogs, though he is clearly outmatched, but that doesn’t stop him from trying. Jet loves getting treats and will challenge his sister and other dogs to playful competitions. His mom is only 25lbs so we don't expect him to grow very big.

Max is a sweet energetic boy that loves people and other dogs. He’ll do great in a home with another dog or on his own. He is coming along with basic commands and has been crate trained for times you can’t be near him and for overnight. He travels well and is always up for an adventure. He enjoys the water. He is a Northern Dog and currently being fostered in the Sutton area.

Our rescue Tigresa continues to progress with rehab for her hind left leg! Tigresa joined us back in December from Mexico. After being hit by a car, she underwent surgeries to remove one of her kidneys and to repair her leg. Tigresa has endured all of this with a calm, sweet temperament.

After Tigresa arrived at Paws Above Rescue, she underwent six weeks of water therapy to encourage her to use her hind leg more. Her initial assessment showed she only placed 8% of her weight on her hind left leg. Not that it stopped her from running around like any other dog!

At her assessment on July 23rd, Tigresa is now placing 15% of her body weight on that leg. The normal rating is 20%, so this is a great improvement! She is also free of pain medications.

We are really pleased with Tigresa’s progress. The next big step is to find her a forever home! Tigresa is approximately 3 years old, 35 pounds, and has a lovely brindle coat. She is gentle and friendly and likes kids. You can find out more about Tigresa at https://pawsaboverescue.ca/dog/tegressa/
