This crop is a power house. This small tray produces almost a pound of greens in 11 days.
You can get a pound easy but they tend to get tougher if grown too long.
Great with anything you use regular greens for.
They are also one of the few microgreens that you can freeze when you have a surplus and use them for smoothies, juicing, soups , stews etc.
High in Vitamin K, B1, B2, and B6.
Great source of Copper, Zinc, Magnesium, Potassium and more.

Quick No Dig or Till Raised Beds
Threw these 30 and 25 foot raised beds together in an afternoon the other day.
No digging or tilling needed.
What you need
-Cardboard
-Dirt
-Wood chips or any type of mulch
Steps
-Lay out cardboard and measure your beds width and length. The cardboard helps suppress the weeds and decomposes naturally.
-Add soil to measured out area. I didn’t have very much room and it’s on a slope so I did the 30” width by 25 and 30 feet in length.
I would normally do 18” pathways but it was pretty sloped
-Add wood chips to aisle and perimeter. This keeps the weeds from creeping in and keeps it nice looking.
-Plant in the spring 👍🌱💪
There is a 100 different ways of starting a garden or making raised beds. This was perfect for the scenario I was in. I had all the supplies so it just cost me a bit of time.

Don’t Do This When Planting Fruit Trees When Planting your fruit trees do not Bury this part of the tree. This is where the tree was grafted. Below this bump is called the rootstock. The rootstock is a different variety than the actual fruit that you get from the tree. This root stock controls how big the tree gets, it determines how well if fights certain disease, how it will adapt to your climate and how quickly it will produce fruit. If this gets buried it will change the genetics of the tree. So keep this above the ground at least 2 inches Grow Your Own Grow Strong 💪 #fruittrees #selfsustainability #permaculture #growyourown

Produce More Fruit Quicker Share this tip to a home growing buddy -Use webbing or a rope that is not going cut into the tree. -Do not put too much tension on the branch -Nice and Easy -Walk by every now and then and make sure there is no caterpillars hiding in the webbing you’re using -You can take the strap or rope off at the end of the season as the branch will be set in place -If the tree has a nice natural branch structure you don’t need to do this -Branches that are more horizontal are going to produce fruit quicker -When you start training the branch it’s no longer fighting to be the leader, so it’s going into fruit production mode quicker -This practice not only produces fruit quicker it also makes the branch structure stronger which is more important -If the Branch structure is greater than a 45 degree angle your branch will get included bark -This creates a tight angle that allows water to be held in the crotch. -As the tree gets bigger and starts producing fruit the weight of everything will break the branch off at this crotch and tare down the trunk of the tree. -This will allow bugs and diseases to infect the tree as the wound will be too large to heal over efficiently. -Avoid this by properly pruning and training your branches Grow Your Own 🌳🍐 Grow Strong 💪 #fruittrees #homesteading #permaculture #growyourown #treeplanting #selfsustainability
Companion Planting creates a food ecosystem that benefits you and whatever you plant. You can plan it so you have something to harvest throughout the seasons. Whether it be for food or medicinal uses. Planting in nitrogen Fixers like lupine & Comfrey are great for creating natural fertilizers. The idea is everything works together. Benefits of companion planting and permaculture guilds are beneficial in so many ways -You Can use plants to feed and benefit other plants that have nitrogen fixing properties -You can get multiple yields of fruit, vegetable or medicinal harvests throughout the seasons -You can create a miniature ecosystem that brings in beneficial insects and birds. -It looks super Cool -Creates less watering because everything is one spot -Creates an educational ecosystem for the kids to watch and learn What I used in this Guild Comfrey Medicinal Properties Brings in beneficial insects Nitrogen Fixer Mulch and compost tea Lupine Nitrogen Fixer Brings in beneficial insects Medicinal properties Apple Tree Trees are cool Apples Current Currents for food Rhubarb Pie and other good stuff Try it out There is no blueprint in what to or not to use. How To Plant Fruit Trees Take 4 minutes to watch and learn. Share with someone planting a fruit tree. Do This ⬇️ -Make sure planting site gets 8 hours of sun -Scrape away sod and weeds -Throw them away -Lay cardboard down on ground -Dig hole and put dirt on cardboard -Hole size twice as deep and wide as root system -Put Tree in hole ( keep tree graft 2-4 “ above the end soil line ) -Add half of the soil in the planting hole -Make sure tree is straight -Water -Add in rest of of soil -Make sure tree graft is 2-4”above the soil line -Make sure tree is straight -Water -Make soil rim around tree so it collects water easier -Watch other video on triple tree size doing this Grow Your Own 🌳 Grow Strong 💪 #treeplanting #fruittrees #permaculture #growyourownfoods
Do This For Best Tree Planting Success Share this with someone planting a tree now -Water the area well -Add wet cardboard around the planting hole -Cover up with the cardboard a little past where the branch Tip ends (Drip Line) -Add 4-6 inches of mulch -Spread Evenly -DONT Let the mulch rest against the trunk -Water in the mulch Why do all This -This mimics a tree growing in the woods with proper ground cover -Prevents weeds from competing with the tree. -Weeds will rob nutrients and water which will stunt your tree or allow it to get diseases easier -The Bare ground will be covered so the soil can build up proper microbes and nutrients -Bare ground dies and dries up easy. Robbing nutrients and moisture from the tree causing disease, stunt growth or death -The mulch will break down over time creating a mycorrhizae food network for your tree. -This will reduce your watering 10x Results expected If Done Properly Bigger, Healthier & Faster growing tree Don’t let everything dry out completely. If you do, Make sure the cardboard and mulch are completely wet and so is the ground below it. Avoid this by putting your hand under the cardboard to see it the soil is dry every now and then. Share this if your friends are planting trees Hope This Helps Grow Your Own Grow Strong 💪 #fruittrees #selfsustainability #growyourown #homesteading #garden #permaculture #treeplanting

Fruit Tree Pruning 101 🍎🍐🌳 Small whips Whips are Single stemmed trees. No Branches It’s good to give the tree a heading cut to allow branches to form 2-6” below the cut. If you don’t the tree can become to lanky or might not form its first branches till the tree is to tall. A heading cut is just a cut that takes off the top of the branch or tree. It makes the buds below the cut become future branches. Where to cut? Just imagine where you want your first branch to be. Cut right above the bud on an angle. Pretty Cool Right?
