Please spread the word! Cairo is STILL MISSING as of Nov 11, 2024, last seen in Kingston, ON K7M 3B1 near The area known as Hillendale, near Portsmouth and Princess and Sir John A McDonald and Bath Rd.
Update: We're still searching for our beloved Cairo. Please share with neighbours in case someone's seen something or hasn't searched their property yet for clues.
I've added a photo of Cairo when she was younger because it shows her facial markings quite well - often Bengals and domestic tabbies look very much alike from a front view. Cairo's nose can look darker in some lights than in the picture from her kitten days, but hopefully the markings detail helps. Her side rosette markings, visible in the profile pictures, may vary from similar brown Bengals in terms of depth of colour, sharpness of contrast between colors, and exact patterning. Different shades of lighting can very much affect the warmth and depth of tones of the coat so it is often better to markings than exact shades when judging by photos of found cats.
Also apparently animal rescue centers can sometimes get the wrong with found cats so It's a good idea to ask them to double-check.
Please help us bring her .

Cairo is an indoor cat with a short, very silky coat. She is microchipped, originally had a collar with an airtag, a city tag, and our phone number. She managed to force the screen off a window by forcing herself between the window and the screen. It was properly installed but I think she figured out that she might be able to open any of the screens. I didn't realize she was out until hours later. She was never set free outside. The collar and tags were found on the ground nearby. She may well have wiggled out of it.
Some of what we have tried:
- searched, shining flashlights, calling softly for her, shaking treats
- put out scent items and smelly food at dusk, monitored by trail camera (no sign of her)
- postered the neighborhood with colourful, laminated posters
- posted widely online & taken out paid ads to reach more people faster - Facebook lost pet sites, in the Next Door app for our city, and other sites
- notified the chip company, the local humane society, local vets, Cairo's vet, put up a poster at the local pet store,
- followed up potential sightings (some were older, some were male, none were Cairo.)
- climbed a giant tree because we thought we heard her
We are still holding out hope.
Here's how you can help:
1. Share this post!
2. Please look for signs such as cat s**t, something eating food that's left out, something breaking into food garbage, or any other possible signs of a cat surviving nearby. Check your sheds, grges, car wheel well, under vehicles, under decks, in bushes, in parks, up trees, and always bring a flashlight to check for eye reflection.
3. Check ads for cats that have been found. Notice animals that anyone has acquired since the 27th of September, 2024, in case she has been sold or taken in.
4. Check ads for (part or full) Bengal kittens for sale since November 1st that might be hers (she was not spayed).
Please report to Pawboost with an exact address, photo of the cat, and your contact info if you see anything.
What does this loss mean to us? We've loved and cared for Cairo since she was a kitten. If we lose her then this will be our 9th loss in about 4 years, the previous eight having been family members and close friends including our three adolescent children's father, my husband, who, after a prolonged illness, past this past winter from a rare cancer. The kids have been through so much and it would mean the world to them (and to me) to find Cairo.
