18 hours and 45 minutes today of just working/driving

I left the house at 5am, and got back at 11.45pm

This is a normal day when I'm out working, between weather, traffic, and unexpected issues, the days get long.

I am so thankful that everyone understands when I need to change things around, especially when my day already doesn't go as planned.

I have lots of experience with routine trims, hoof scald, hoof rot (and the scarring), laminitis in goats, deformed hooves due to injury/frostbite, and severely overgrown hooves.

This time of year, the snow and cold affects the animals hooves if they are overgrown. I have seen a whole bunch of cases in the last week with (goats especially) with bruising in their hooves. The cold makes the hoof walls stiffer, which puts more pressure on the soft area of the hoof with every step the animal takes. The more overgrown the hoof is, the worse the pressure is (more leverage).

The other reason for keeping them trimmed during the winter is that as said above, the outer layer becomes much harder, which makes it easier for the animal to slip on the ice and snow when the overgrowth is curled underneath. When it's trimmed, the middle of the hoof has a rubber texture that provides much better traction. Think hard plastic sled vs. Rubber tire.

I have limited spaces left on this trip!

I can trim sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, and mini pigs. I can also trim pig tusks, and shear small flocks of sheep/llamas/alpacas .

As a reminder, I do not trim cows, horses, donkeys, or full sized pigs

I have been doing this professionally for 6 years now, and most of my life on my own animals. I trim on average 1000 sheep and goats per month, and around 50 pigs per month.

I have lots of experience with routine trims, hoof scald, hoof rot (and the scarring), bruising, abcesses, laminitis, and rehabbing extremely overgrown hooves. I am willing to teach you how to do your own, and answer any questions you may have.

My prices are based on:

- number of animals
- condition of hooves
- weight (on mini pigs)

This was an extreme case of overgrown hooves in a herd of goats - the new owners bought them and needed someone knowledgeable in to trim the hooves back down to normal (Note: finished work isn't shown - goats were no longer tolerating pictures) *in this situation it was necessary for me to take it all off at once due to the circumstances. The goats were feeling better within a few days, and are happy, regular clients now! #farrierwork #goatlife #rescueanimals
