One service I love to provide is helping to organize children’s/new babies clothing! It makes such a difference to have things organized and accessible when they are needed. An organized space also helps with our mental health, so a win-win all around.

A postpartum doula offers support to the whole family, and is willing to help in many different ways that would make life easier. Today I was able to assist with the sorting and organization of both infant and big brother's toys! While it may not sound like a lot, that organization can really help with postpartum stress!

Several Abbott brand powdered infant formula products, sold under the Similac label, are being recalled due to possible contamination by Cronobacter sakazakii and salmonella bacteria.

This Tomato and Feta pasta has been flying around Tik Tok, and I decided to make it this week! Absolutely delicious! It was super easy to do, and was incredible! Making meals for my families is one of my favourite ways I can help out, and it has such a huge impact on time limited parents!

Did you know there is no regulation on the term "doula" and people have varying degrees of experience and education?

While that may not be a bad thing, I am proud to officially be certified through Doula Training Canada.

This included a two day in person course, multiple unites of education (including tests and assessments), a verbal presentation, final exam and three certifying clients.

I am very proud to have completed the program, and look forward to using my new skills to help families in my community.

One of the services I am happy (okay, thrilled!) to provide for my families is pet care! Sometimes there just isn’t enough time in the day to meet everyone’s needs, and I am happy to help love on a family pet or take the dog for a walk!

Motherhood has been my dream as far back as I can remember. With the birth of my daughter, I changed immensely. I became more assertive in my views, and passionate about my values. And I realised really quickly how much I wanted to spend my time with her, while also establishing a career. I have been so lucky to be able to carve out that path, in various ways! It's been 10 years today since this sweet girl was born, making my dream of becoming a mom a reality! ❤ It's amazing how much this role has changed my life, and the skills and lessons I've learnt in parenting have been so helpful for my work!

Postpartum doulas are happy to care for your newborn, including feeding them, so you can attend to other tasks or rest. We support a parent’s choice in how they feed their baby, and offer support as needed.

One way a postpartum doula may help you is to care for your children so that you are able to get some rest or attend to the tasks that are important to you. This may include playing around the house, or engaging with the children in an activity, or even going for a walk to the park. While doulas are not babysitters, occasional childcare to meet the needs of our clients is definitely part of the job.

I am so very thrilled to announce that I have become a part of the Doula Support Foundation here in Kingston! Our goal is to make doula care accessible to the whole community, regardless of income, while also supporting doulas to make a liveable wage.
