Meet Nubs. ๐งก
This little dude was found living stray, sleeping in a boat with his siblings. He was born extra special with three legs and a small stump, or nub. As you can see, he gets around just fine and is a happy little guy, but as he has grown, his nub has caused issues, becoming injured and infected.
Yesterday, Nubsโ nub was amputated, which will allow him to live out life without risk of recurring injury and infection.
The surgery cost $932. If youโd like to donate to help with these costs you can do that here on Facebook or via CanadaHelps on our website: https://www.kingstonanimalrescue.com/givenow
Itโs one week to The Forever Gala and this is our final call for sponsors and tickets! ๐พ
The Forever Gala takes place May 3 at the The Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts.
We are fundraising for all of our animals, of course, but specifically we need the funds for Winston, a one-year-old black Goldendoodle that we saved from euthanasia. He has severe hip dysplasia and needs full hip replacement, a two-part surgery performed by an orthopaedic specialist that will cost a minimum of $15,000.
Consider getting a group together or donating to the event if canโt join us. We need your support to help raise much-needed funds. Tickets are $150 ea. or $1,400 for a table of 10.
This yearโs gala promises to be a magical evening with a red carpet welcome and photography (with special guest Winston!), signature drink, fine vegan dining catered by the amazing Knifey + Spooney (if youโre not sure about vegan food, trust us, their food is amazing!), talented live music, cozy patio with late-night wood-fired pizza, incredible silent and live auctions, and much more โ all for a great cause!
We are SO incredibly grateful for our amazing sponsors that are making this event happen!

Barney
Meet sweet, sweet Barney. He came into our care late this week. He was found abandoned outside and brought to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre. We were able to get Barney to a rabbit specialist on Thursday.
Poor Barney has clearly been very neglected. He had discharge from both eyes; ears full of dirt and wax (thankfully no infection); very severe skin scale and mites, which made him really itchy; torn nails; a gassy abdomen; urine-stained and poop-crusted bum; and he is severely underweight. He also has acquired dental disease โ his top left first molar is curved and growing into his cheek โ and he is a bit wobbly, which we suspect is related to his poor condition.
Weโve addressed many of his immediate needs: he has been treated for mites, eyes and ears cleaned, nails trimmed, bum clipped and bathed, and he is on pain medication. He will need dental surgery in about two weeks, but he first needs to gain weight and strength. He is receiving an unlimited buffet of pellets, greens, hay, and Critical Care to help him bulk up.
Thankfully, he seems much more comfortable and far less itchy now. As you can see, he is also incredibly friendly and sweet despite all he has been through. We think he knows heโs safe now. โค๏ธ
Barneyโs care on intake was $419.69. His upcoming dental surgery will be $995. We appreciate any donations toward this sweet little guy. Donate via Facebook or on our website: https://www.kingstonanimalrescue.com/givenow

We are happy to share that Jelly was adopted! This once antisocial hedgehog, who was terrified by humans, has grown in curiosity and bravery as she has continued to lose weight.
Jellybean was surrendered to the rescue after someone rescued her from a neglectful situation. Unfortunately, a parent thought that a hedgehog would make a good pet for a child, but they aren't born ready to be handled. Hedgehogs take love, patience and a lifetime of appropriate handling to become good pets, something a child cannot provide.
Jellybean went almost a year without being held before being rescued and would instinctively curl into a ball every time a human was around. Her foster home worked to earn her trust, exercise her body, and introduce her to social skill practice- she's not perfect and still qualifies as a grump- but Jelly's curiosity far outweighs her fear! Jellybean was adopted this May!! Her forever home loves and accepts her as she is and is ready to continue to help Jellybean come out of her shell and live her best life!
