My dearest Sadie, how I wish a dog’s life wasn’t so short. It’s not fair that you were only with us for 9 years when you had so much love to give.
To say Sadie was the perfect dog is an understatement. Sure, she had a lot to say, and she made sure the other family dogs knew she was the boss, but she was a dream dog. She was never leashed on our property, and she never wandered. She could take herself down to the lake for a swim whenever she wanted to and mosey through the woods. She was my dad’s constant companion and would happily lay down while he tended to the bees or gathered sap or went ice fishing. In these last couple months, she learned of the fun of riding shotgun in the RTV and he would constantly find her racing ahead to get her spot. She was kind to children, strangers, and delivery drivers. My parents had many drivers tell them that Sadie was their favourite dog and if she ever went missing, they knew who had stolen her. She was just that sweet.
We will miss her pointy ears and soft fur. We will miss her silly sleeping positions (upside down against the couch with feet in the air). We will miss her songs and barks and howls. We will miss finding her sticks inside our car doors, and grocery bags, and shoes. And most of all, we will miss her unwavering spirit and companionship at Golden Pond.
We love you Sadie, run free 🌈❤️
