While taking Christmas photos with your dog can be super fun, remember to be patient and respect your dog’s boundaries. What is a harmless little hat to us, can be a very stressful ordeal for your dog. This is a great excuse to get familiar with your dog’s body language.

Bringing your dog to Christmas?

• Remember that your dog is your responsibility. Watch your dog and advocate for their needs.
• If your dog is going to be present during a gathering ensure that they feel like they have space they can take when they need a break and that their feelings are being validated.
• Just because our dogs are our pets, doesn’t mean they always want to be pet.
• Giving your dog time and space to decompress is not punishment.

Did you know that working your dog all day long isn’t actually helping them relax?

While each dog does require a different amount of activity to fulfill them, even high energy dogs need to learn how to not just lay down but truly settle and relax.
