Today's Saturday Staff Pet Spotlight is on MAYA!!! We'll let her tell you all about her life with her dad Devon (one of our fabulous RVT's at Pioneer)

Woof Woof, Aroooooo! Hello new friends! *Furious tail wagging*
My name is Maya. I may look and act like a puppy, but would you believe I am 10 years young!? I met my dad just 5 days after I was born and I knew he was a perfect fit, so I let him take me home. ♥

My dad taught me so many tricks so I can get treats all the time, but I know the secret. If I do all my tricks at the same time then he can’t say no, right? I also like to take my dad for walks to get him his exercise. He likes to throw tennis balls (my favorite) and sticks for me to chase. I know he wants me to bring them back to him, but I prefer to find a nice shaded area to lay down and just chew, chew, chew. 🐾

This fabulous big tomcat (now named Snickers, nickname Lips!) was given a second chance thanks to one of our amazing clients! ❤️ He got neutered AND treated to a spa day by our team—his tightly matted coat is gone, and now he can move freely and comfortably again! He will be handsome again, once his coat grows back in! So satisfying to make a difference for this sweet boy!

The show poodle clip originated because they ancestors of today's poodles were used as hunting dogs and the dogs’ thick coats were a hindrance in water and thick brush, so hunters sheared the hindquarters, with cuffs left around the ankles and hips to protect against rheumatism. Each hunter marked his dogs’ head with a ribbon of his own color, allowing groups of hunters to tell their dogs apart. Who knew!?🐩

🐾❄️ Winter isn’t a tick free zone anymore for your pets! While chilly temps may lower infection rates, ticks are still lurking. With climate change giving us milder winters, there are far less days throughout the winter where our temperatures stay above 4C. The resilient tick can survive and thrive! Keep your dog protected year-round!

Contrary to popular belief, that iconic saucer of milk isn’t the treat you think it is! While they may like the tast, most cats are lactose intolerant, which means dairy can lead to tummy troubles. Opt for fresh water and nutritious cat food or tuna juice instead!
