🐾 Just like in summer when a car can be a dangerous place to leave your pup, leaving your pup in a cold car can be just as dangerous. Hypothermia is real! 🥶 If temps are above freezing and you're just popping out, it’s okay for a few minutes, but longer? Leave them comfy at home! 🏠❤️

We are CELEBRATING Miss Penny! Penny completed her chemo treatments late this summer for large cell gastrointestinal lymphoma, and is doing great! We love to see her for her healthy check ups! She is a lovely sweet girl who was always amenable to all of her treatments, her hospitalizations, IVF and feeding tubes when she needed to be hospitalized.

The humans in her household tell us she always gave head butts to indicate that she was ready to interact and to go on. She eats like a champ, asking to be fed several times in the night by waking them with a lick on the nose, then she sleeps contentedly the rest of the night on the bed with them and her feline housemate, 17 yr old Sophie. She also loves her medicine in her favourite canned food and takes her SQ injections of B12 vitamins like a champ.

She has been featured as the Oncology Ambassador in the Best Friends magazine, her story is so wonderful. What a sweet, strong, resilient girl!

Cleo was found at a conservation area in a toilet last year and an animal service officer who was able to rescue her by scooping her out with a net. When she was found her nails were long and she had severe dental disease. She was placed in foster care and had a dental procedure done that helped her feel a lot better but left her with only a few teeth! She was now ready to be adopted to a forever family!
However, it turns out, she already found her forever family when Lindsay, her foster mom, made the decision to officially adopt her. ♥ Lindsay was happy to share Cleo's amazing journey! We had the joy of meeting Lindsay and Cleo today! What a lucky little girl Cleo is, she made it to the right forever home, so much love!!! 🐾♥

Just like us, they feel that chill! 🐾 Keep outdoor time brief but don’t skip daily exercise - indoor play works wonders too! ❤️ Make their space cozy: soft beds, sunny spots, and plenty of blankets are key! Watch for signs: limping, stiffness, or changes in behavior during colder months - it could mean it’s time for a vet visit, we can help too. Let’s keep our pets comfy and happy all winter long! 🐶💙

Meet the purr-fect addition to our day! This handsome little furball graced us with his presence for his first visit to Pioneer! He is a "Scottish Straight", which is the straight or normal eared sibling of the Scottish Fold breed. Our receptionist Mireya, of course, was quick to shower him with snuggles!

Remember that snow and thawing ice can hide toxic chemicals like salt and antifreeze. Before your walks on sidewalks or pavement, put on protective booties OR put paw balm or vaseline on your pets paws to protect them. After snowy walks, clean those paws & fur to prevent any further harm they can do through licking the chemicals off their paws. Keep containers secure and spills cleaned up—because every pet deserves a winter free of worries! 💙

🌨️❄️ Snowballs and ice in your pup’s paws are definitely uncomfortable! 🐾 Keep the chill at bay by applying pet paw balm (or vaseline) between those toes before going out to play or walk. Also, keeping their nails trimmed and trimming the fur between the toes and around the paws will reduce the fur for less snow to cling onto. If they have longer coats, don’t forget a jacket to protect their chest & belly from buildup! 💖☃️
