Lexi sits politely while waiting for her cookies at her monthly “treat visit”. She actually comes to receive Librela injections but don’t tell her that. Librela is a once a month injection that helps decrease osteoarthritis pain in dogs. If your dog is experiencing pain, especially in their senior years, it may be a good idea to discuss whether Librela or other treatments may be appropriate at their next visit.

Spring is on the horizon, and with that comes warm weather pests. Ticks are active and searching once the temperature reaches 4 degrees. As temperatures rise and grass becomes exposed, you and your pets are at risk of tick bites. We recommend giving your pets preventative flea and tick treatments once the weather begins to warm up. Call the clinic to arrange parasite prevention at 519-893-1360.

Maggie looking cute at her monthly Cartrophen injection (aka treat visit)! This is one of the medications we use to help dogs with discomfort associated with osteoarthritis.

Cartrophen is an osteoarthritis drug that works in 3 ways:
- Slows the progression of arthritis by inhibiting enzymes that break down cartilage and stimulating natural inhibitors of these destructive enzymes
- Stimulates production of lubricant and cartilage molecules by joint cells
- Improves nutrition to joint tissues by improving blood circulation to tissues
If your dog is experiencing arthritis symptoms, ask a veterinarian what medications would be most helpful for them at their next visit.

A round worm found in a poorly feeling patient today. There are all kinds of things to find and eat in the spring and summer months; some of which contain worms! 🪱 Thankfully, your summer heartworm medication is also a great general dewormer. Another good reason to put your pet on a monthly heartworm prevention medication this year. It is recommended to start this medication June 1st and give it monthly until November 1st.
