Welcome Nico to the CanineTech Rehab team!

Nico is a wonderful 3 year old mix breed who has had a below elbow amputation. His owners reached out to CanineTech Rehab to get help with teaching Nico how to use a prosthetic. Nico is a very smart boy who has caught on quickly with the various exercises we have been working on!

Swipe to see a video of Nico working with his owner to practice shake a paw with his prosthetic!

Great job Nico!

This beautiful senior girl is Kaya. She is 3 weeks post-op from a TPLO surgery for a CCL tear. She is doing really well since her surgery. Her rehab will consist of exercises for mobility, strength, weight bearing and proprioception. She will get laser treatment to help with the healing and pain. Kaya also has a sore back from only using 3 legs for a while. We will work on the stiffness and soreness in her back with manual therapy. Kaya is a sweetheart and did extremely well during her assessment with CanineTech Rehab.

Kaya's brother, Benji, wanted in on all the action too!

This is Loki. Loki has had an abnormal gait pattern that is possibly due to something neurological. He is waiting to see a neurologist and have further testing. In the meantime he has started with canine rehab to help work on his gait and mobility. Loki had a fractured leg when he was a puppy. It is possible he developed this abnormal gait from having a cast. He has stiffness in his hips and pelvis and moves a lot in his lumbar spine. This could be causing some nerve impingement. We are hoping there is nothing more neurological that will be found, and with manual therapy and exercises we can get Loki moving easier and more comfortably!

Ebony is very familiar with having canine rehab. He is only 3 years old but had severe hip dysplasia from birth and had to have both of his hips replaced. Ebony is visiting from out west but his owner wanted to continue with his rehab while here. Ebony has had an irregular gait pattern his whole life. Regular rehab treatments are needed to help with the stiffness and muscle imbalances in his spine, pelvis and hips. Ebony will also get laser and acupuncture treatment to help with any pain and discomfort.

Ebony's brother Bentley is apparently a Houdini and knows how to help himself to treats!

Mika is the newest member of the CanineTech Rehab pack! Mika has been having lameness on her right front leg. She has a mild sprain of her medial shoulder ligament with tendonitis of her biceps tendon. Mika is nervous about having physio, so we are going to take it slow and of course she gets lots of treats! Her treatment will be focused on mobility and strengthening of her right shoulder, as well as laser to help with the pain and healing. Mika is a very sweet girl and did enjoy all the attention. Her brother, Denver, wanted in on the action as well, but I think he was mostly there for the treats!

CanineTech is branching out and is now treating cats! This beautiful boy is Smoke. Smoke is a senior cat and has arthritis. He has become weak in his hind end and is over using his left shoulder. Smoke's owner is managing his pain but we are going to work on mobility in his back, pelvis, hips and shoulders. Smoke also has some strengthening exercises to work on. Smoke was a great participant and has set the standard high for any other cats that decide to join the CanineTech Rehab pack....or should I say "FelineTech Rehab"!

Rory has now joined her brother, Geller, as a CanineTech Rehab pack member. Rory has stiffness in her neck that is causing her to cry at times. We are working on joint mobility in her neck with manual therapy and range of motion exercises. She also has a lot of muscle tension in that area as well as pain, so she massage and laser are also part of her treatment. Rory and Geller are both very photogenic! They both wanted all the attention and treats at their physio appointment today.

Raisin is a repeat customer with CanineTech Rehab. Raisin has a possible tear of his biceps that is causing pain and lameness. Raisin has had surgery to fix an CCL tear in the past. He developed a habit of shifting his weight more onto his front legs and overusing the muscles in his shoulders. This has led to his current injury. We are going to work on pain management and strengthening in both his hind and front end to help redistribute his weight properly. This will help decrease the stress on his front legs. Raisin is such a happy boy who loves to play and go for pack walks. We want to get Raisin back to enjoying those things in his senior years!

Frida has partial tears of both of her CCLs and early degenerative changes in her knees. She is a very active dog but is limited by her injuries. Her owners wanted to try physio to see if they could avoid surgery but it is likely, due to Frida's age and activity level, that she will require surgery. Working on her pain management, strength, proprioception and weight bearing is going to help her both pre and post-op. Frida is also very fearful so we are taking things slow so she feels more comfortable. She is a very sweet girl and we just want to do the best thing possible to help her!
