Did you know some common essential oils can be toxic to pets?

Here are a few to be aware of:

Tea Tree Oil:
Symptoms:
Vomiting, drooling, weakness, tremors, and ataxia.

Lavender Oil:
Symptoms:
Vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, and ataxia.

Peppermint Oil:
Symptoms:
Vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and difficulty breathing.

Eucalyptus Oil:
Symptoms:
Vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and respiratory distress.

Cinnamon Oil:
Symptoms:
Vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and abdominal pain.

Citrus Oils (e.g., Lemon, Orange, Lime):
Symptoms:
Vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and potential liver damage.

Reasons for your pets' sensitivity:

Pets metabolize substances differently from humans. What might be safe for us can be harmful to them.

Liver Enzymes:
Pets have fewer liver enzymes to detoxify chemicals, making them more susceptible to poisoning.

Respiratory System:
Pets have a more sensitive respiratory system, making them more vulnerable to inhaling toxins.

If you suspect your pet has been exposed to any of these substances, it’s important to contact your veterinarian immediately.

Anyone missing this friendly boy from Lacombe. Neutered male has a tattoo but we were unable to trace it back to an owner. He was picked up in Lacombe with a leg injury that required vet treatment. Please give us a call at 403-340-0128 if this is your boy
