Poppy in her cute jacket and Frodo the farm dog is getting his second knee surgery today 😩. Frodo was neutered by a local dog rescue before 3 months old and some speculate it is related to his knee issues. This will be another long recovery poor guy ❤️‍🩹

Freddy Cougar Featherpants 13 years old, ZERO TEETH, 💯 PUMA.
I adopted Freddy as a kitten 13 years ago. His mother was a pregnant stray in Port Hardy, Northern Vancouver Island.
Due to an autoimmune disease he’s had all of his teeth removed. He has a had around 6 dentals in his lifetime. He has no idea and will not hesitate to MAUL with his toothless mouth. He is strictly indoor but loves outside walks. Please don’t judge his haircut. 😂☠️

We are coming out of one of the worst abscess seasons…. Some of you may remember me posting about Walter’s abscess, he was 3-legged lame for a bit. I think it was the chronic wet weather, everyone was feeling it. West Coast weather makes horses particularly susceptible.
Now that it’s a couple months later I’m seeing the old vents grow out and they are MASSIVE. None of them are currently sore on them as they are no longer active. These old blowouts will now take 9ish months to fully grow out.
Before I became a welder I was a farrier, AFA Certified. Being able to trim everyone myself saves me sooooo much money 😅 Hoof care is a huge expense for most rescues.
Re*****on is due for a trim so I am going to try and fit him in before work tomorrow.

I was admiring Wendy’s coat in the sun this morning. She’s so soft and fluffy like bunny hair.

Her skin basically MELTED off after being dumped at Westlock auction last spring.
Rain scald, lice, malnutrition. Then, abandoning in such a shameful state that no one other than the meat man was paying attention to them. She was constantly shivering uncontrollably in the northern temperatures. Now look at her! Such a strong lead mare.

3am feeding after an overtime shift. Frigid! I swear west coast -3 is comparable to -20 in the interior.

Well the muggy warm rain is now freezing rain 🥶 Wendy and Walter’s first temperate rainforest winter. The mules have 2 inch long mammoth hair. I just have to make sure water doesn’t pool in Barbie’s back crease 😅
