Appreciation post, brag post, and shout-out post for this awesome team! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Callie, Mia, and their owner started working with us last June. We started our intensive training program that consisted of two sessions a week, one as a one on one with the owner, and the second with just me to train the dogs the new skills. We introduce new behaviours, commands, and remote collar training to help work on Callie and Mia's overall listening and their reactivity to dogs. One of the pups had experienced a remote collar before, but with not much success. We reintroduced the tool in a subtle and conservative way to train both dogs that the remote collar paired with commands means to do and to communicate.
Fast forward until now, Mia and Callie's owner has been consistently putting in the time and work with their training as well as incorporating boundaries and rules into the dog's daily routine.
They can now successfully pass by dogs without barking and lunging, and they are even starting to offer engagement and focus with their owner as well! 👏🥳
"I never thought I'd ever be able to do this with them," sometimes Callie & Mia's owner said to me yesterday during our follow-up session! I absolutely live for those words. SO many owners feel the same way about their dogs, and they are embarrassed, frustrated, or confused about what to do or how to help. I am so pleased to be able to help dedicated owners like this, change their relationship with their dog, and bring on new confidence, freedom, and joy. 👏💕
Congrats to this awesome team!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for our Community Pack Walk this morning!! 🥳🐕
It was a gorgeous day and an excellent walk. It's so wonderful to see owners and dogs challenging themselves and coming out to an event like this!!
It can be difficult for the dogs. There is so much stimulation and action going on. It's an excellent test and a huge win for the owners showing up for themselves and their dogs!
Stay tuned for updates on future walks!

Suki completed her #1weekboardandtrain 🥳🥳
Suki and her owner originally trained with me in 2019
We worked on Suki's obedience and reactivity to other dogs and introduced ecollar communication. Suki's owner has been working hard with Suki, and Suki has come a long way, but her owner wanted to see if there were other options to help Suki make progress around dogs.
During the week, we tuned up Suki's obedience and heel command, reintroduced the ecollar to change Suki's perception of it to motivate her to do a command, and conditioned her to a muzzle.
For Suki's reactivity, we really worked on engagement, confidence, and having fun in new or uncomfortable situations or in the vicinity of dogs. When passing dogs, we worked on helping Suki understand there are alternative ways to work through her emotions versus just reacting or confronting the dog, such as, creating space, moving away, redirecting her attention onto something else like fun obedience, recall, a game or engagement.
We are looking forward to seeing Suki and her owner again for a follow-up in a few months to see how the new routine is helping her grow! 💕

Our newest program, Day Training, launched last week! 🤩👏
Here's a video of the training sessions I did with the dogs we had in today. Lenny, the #pugmix, Bane the #rottweiler, and my two, Joey & Eli! 🐾
This has been something I've had in the works for over a year!! The timing of our newest team member being fully trained and taking over walks, as well as access to a building on our property, couldn't have worked out better!! 🥳🥳
There are some updates and improvements to come, but I'm excited to hit the ground running with this new program.
Stay tuned for more details and program info!

Here's Joey, having some fun on the beach, searching out clams and getting sprayed in the face, running with the birds, enjoying his freedom, and loving life. 🏖🐕
It's windy, and he's getting pretty far away, Joey was trained on an ecollar 5 years ago, and for most situations, we don't need to use it. We use the ecollar for these kinds of scenarios where theres fun things to chase and get into. This day at the beach it was particularly windy, when I called for Joey, he couldn't hear me so he didn't respond! 😳
I'm grateful for the way we have trained Joey on the ecollar, when it's not possible for him hear me, I still have a way to get him to come back when I need to and he can still enjoy his off leash time, freedom and fun.
The way we train dogs on ecollars is to pattern low level stimulation to mean, move towards me. Over and over again, proofing and practicing, with lots of tastey rewards, so to him, that low level stim has the same meaning as "Joey, come."
The longer I do this, the more I see dogs not trained the same way. When an ecollar is brought out, the dog moves away from it or does nothing when the stimulation is on. 😕
Ecollar training is getting more and more popular, but there's less interest in doing the work and putting in the time to do training properly.
An ecollar isn't properly trained in 1 or 2 sessions. There's foundation work that needs to be done first. Like, does your dog respond to all obedience commands with just the verbal cues? If not, there's work to be done there first. Then, once the introduction of the ecollar has happened, there's days of repetition, making sure the timing is correct, making sure the dog is responding the way you want to, and then slowly adding distance and distractions, with weeks or more of practice!
The ecollar is an excellent tool when used correctly. Those of us who promote it are representing it and need to make sure we are teaching dogs and owners correctly. This is also a reminder for dog o
Thanks again for joining us on this mornings Community Walk! 🐕🐕
We had a well-behaved and smaller group today, so we were able to practice a few different exercises to challenge the pups more!
Sit stays next to the dog park and head on, close proximity, pass bys. I am very proud of all the owners and dogs they did so well with both exercises. 🥳👏
See you next month at the next walk!! 👋

Our newest van got a face-lift today! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
After 4 years, I am still absolutely in love with our logo and branding. The Common Dog represents any and all dogs and is a symbol of an owner and dog coming together in harmony, balance, friendship, trust, and much more. 🐾
I am SO grateful to @identity.graphics for being part of making our logo and branding into what it is today and the beautiful work they've done on our two #StructuedDogWalking Vans! 🥳👏
