Samwise and Tolle had their first adventure to a pumpkin patch to pick out some yummy pumpkins for their piggy friends! 🎃 They enjoyed sneaking corn kernels in the corn maze and meeting new animal friends. They've met a lot of different farm animals in their eleven plus years, but they were very excited to meet a bunny that didn't try to run away from them!

Boromir is relatively new to us and still a bit nervous. We're winning over his trust with lots of scritches; he loves to flop over for a full body massage.

Herald was such a good boy for his first-ever hoof soaking for a suspected abscess. He's come a long way since almost being euthanized as a two-year-old because he was deemed too dangerous. So proud of this guy!

Nirvana Animal Sanctuary has embarked on an exciting, but unexpected adventure! We were given the amazing opportunity to lease St. Lads, the fifty-acre former Standardbred breeding farm that our horses and donkeys have been living at for the past year. We’re incredibly grateful to have secured long-term, safe housing for the animals on a property where we’re now also able to reside. No more twice-a-day thirty-minute round trips to the barn for us!

The last couple of months have been insanely hectic, and we didn’t have much time for social media, though we’ve amassed a lot of photos and videos to share with you. We’ve been busy caring for the animals, getting the humans settled, unpacking and organizing the barn (we can’t begin to explain how nice it is to have two entire barns to ourselves! What luxury!), and making enclosures for our newest residents. Countless hours have been spent cleaning, and working away at repairs and improvements, with the intention of taking on a few equine boarders to help fund the cost of Nirvana Animal Sanctuary’s new home.

Speaking of new, we’re thrilled to unveil our new logo, which more accurately reflects our growing family.

Our current fur/hair/bristle/shell residents: 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🫏🫏🐖🐖🐄🐄🐕🐕🐕🐢🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈 (We took in a pregnant barn cat and now have kittens!!!)

Feeling grateful for every day spent with Samwise the Survivor, our cattle dog mix. Cluster grand mal seizures, a torn CCL, acute pancreatitis, seasonal allergies, and now cancer. He's not letting anything stop him from loving life, and playing with his step-cousin Georgia all day long. They both have the same wrestling style, which involves a lot of barking. The "littles" herd arrived safe and sound to our new location on Tuesday and we've been spending the week prepping the fencing and shelters for the "bigs" herd to arrive today. Wish them safe travels please!
