Working student position is open, we are open to find two individuals! We are also open to bringing your own horse and working of partial board.

What is paid for:
- All lessons
- coaching fees at shows

What you need to pay for:
- All attire to groom and ride
- Travel to the barn 3+ days per week
- Travel and housing
- show fees for your own horse
- rider level testing fees if you are wanting to achieve the levels

What this is:
- A comprehensive program for young riders to learn to ride, train and work in a barn
- A program where the horses always come first
- A barn full of great horses
- Jumping and flat lessons on a range of horses and ponies
- feeding, doing stalls and paddocks
- Unlimited riding availability as student progresses

What this isn’t:
- A client program
- A place where you dictate lessons plans, training plans, or show plans
- A place where whining or crying are tolerated
- A place where horses are blamed-for their behavior, your bad lesson or your bad day!

What this requires:
- Ability to be here 3+ days per week, year-round
- Bravery, grit, and willingness to learn
- Family involvement to be team players at the barn and horse shows helping out
- While there is no minimum age, our preference is 14 and over but a younger more mature rider is welcome for the ponies!
- being able to put your phone down

- What if I am an adult who wants to come hang out in a fun community and but don’t want to ride? Yes, send us a message to discuss your wants.
- What if I’m in college and can only ride on breaks? Yes! Come meet us and we can chat about your availability!

Heading into the 2025 Show Season, the Wise Equine Veterinary Team wants you to be aware that NEW FEI rules came into effect Jan 1st 2025!

- Clipping of the inside of a horse's ears is NOT PERMITTED, only the hair outside the border of the ear (auricles) can be trimmed.
- Horses MAY NOT receive same day injectable treatments before competing even when there is an evening class.
- Horses may no longer receive INJECTABLE vitamins and minerals during competition (Vit B12, ESel, Hemo 15, CaCoCopper, etc...).
- Horses competing barefoot MUST present to the jog barefoot (no boots allowed).

So excited how Miss Nelly is coming along! We bought her a few months back and gave her lots of time to settle, gain a few pounds and get her feet sorted. This month she has proven she will be a excellent lesson horse in the near future! Good riding Mckenna!!

We currently have no power and the wind is kinda crazy. The barn is locked up tight to keep water running. I think we need to reschedule all lessons for today! Horses are happy ❤️

Heart of Gold "Paige" is available for sale (preferred) or a in barn lease. 2008 13.1HH Grade pony mare. Has been a huge part of our lives for many years. She taught both our kids how to ride and many other JR’s. She is super steady and has done it all hunters, jumpers, eventing, dressage, tiny tot lessons, vaulting, trail riding. She can be whoa or go depending on the level of the kid. Amazing ground manners, good for vet, farrier and loading/trailering. Is UTD with teeth and vaccinations, currently has a full set of shoes on for the season but can go barefoot. Takes new situations very well. 20k plus GST

About Us

Arliss & Cassie met in summer of 2002 , in 2006 they purchased 320 acres near Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan. From 2006 to 2019 they operated Ace Equestrian a boarding, training lesson barn and show facility. The facility was complete with a beautiful indoor, multiple outdoors and a cross country course.

In 2015 they hosted a clinic that would forever change their lives. After a few years of discussing it and seeing how the industry was moving in Saskatchewan and wanting to be closer to their mentor they decided to list Ace to start a new adventure in Langley, BC. Thorbrooke Equestrian was born, Thorbooke represents their family names Thorsteinson and Bolingbroke.

Horses are their passion, that can be seen on a daily basis as they work together in the barn, and with each horse or student they train. They also have two Children Austyn and Vance, that are also very involved in the day to day activities.

Having worked with all breeds and in many disciplines, they now focus on hunter/jumper as their main discipline. Including dressage as a base for all their horses. Starting young horses with a solid foundation is very important to them, they work on the horses timeline not their own.
