WARNING!!!!! ⚠️‼️ GRAPHIC IMAGES!!!!!

Meet Bunny… Bunny was found on the streets, and brought to Rita Woodman at A Worthy Claws Rescue Society of BC on August 26th, 2024 even though, like many other rescues, she is currently on an intake hold due to high intake volumes and low adoption rates.
Rita took in Bunny who was emaciated, extremely dehydrated, and had severe injuries.
She brought Bunny to us, fully determined to do whatever it takes to help her get the care she needs, and find her a forever home.

Bunny had a deep, 4-inch long open wound underneath her right front leg, and it was crawling with maggots. She had a tear in her ear that had almost completely healed, as well as many scratches and bruises. The cause of these wounds will remain unknown.

Dr. Ahlawat and our amazing team immediately started treatment, giving pain medications, antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, wound debridement, and all necessary medical treatment.

Since August 26th, she has been under close observation at our facility. When we were closed for the Labour Day long weekend, Miya volunteered to take bunny home to continue bandage changes and medications.

Since then, she has had numerous rechecks and bandage changes to assess her progress.

After lots of food, love, and hours of medical care, we are pleased to say she is doing much better, and her wound is almost completely healed. We are also happy to report Bunny is currently in her forever home with our manager, Miya, who bonded very closely with her during her stay.

We have included progression pictures below for anyone who might be interested in seeing her amazing healing journey.

A special thank you to everyone who donated to cover the cost of Bunny’s medical care. We are so grateful for all of you for helping us give this girl a chance.

And thank you to Rita, for taking in this amazing kitty, and giving her a chance at life.

🐾 IMPORTANT! Exciting News for Canadian Dog Owners Traveling to the USA! 🇨🇦✈️🇺🇸

Great news, everyone! Starting August 1st, Canadian dogs traveling to the USA will benefit from new exemptions that simplify the process.

Here's what you need to know:

📜 **Simplified Health Certificate**: Canadian dogs now require a specific health certificate valid for the duration of their rabies vaccination. No more CFIA validation needed!

🔍 **Microchip Update**: Any universally readable microchip is now acceptable—no need for the ISO specific type.

⏳ **Grace Period**: While not guaranteed yet, there's hope for a small grace period where owners may receive warnings to comply with the new regulations, rather than be denied access.

Remember these essentials for travel:
- Dogs must be 6 months or older.
- They must have a universally readable microchip.
- A valid health certificate tied to their rabies vaccination is a must.
- Owners need to complete a CDC import form.

Please note, this situation is evolving, and more updates are expected. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.

Got questions? Reach out to us! We're here to help make your pet's travel smooth and hassle-free.🦮🐾✈️

Here's what you need to know:
- Dogs must be at least 6 months old.
- They need an implanted ISO-compatible microchip.
- Your pup must appear healthy upon arrival and have a CDC Dog Import Form receipt.
- Additional documentation is required based on your dog's travel history and vaccination status.

There are lots of reasons I wag my tail. You can tell how I’m feeling by paying attention to my tail’s positioning. A hip-swaying, loose, side-to-side wag usually means I’m in a great mood, whereas when I hold my tail high and stiff with a rigid wag, I’m likely in a state of agitation or high excitement.

The type of dog bed I have matters

Pay attention to how I sleep before you pick out a dog bed for me. Do I love to doze off with my legs sprawled out? Get me a flat bed. If I like to curl up, I’d probably prefer a bumper bed. I may even like to have my very own blanket to cover myself up with.
