C.A.R.E.S. mission is to rescue, shelter, and find loving homes for stray, abandoned, and unwanted cats. began an alliance with PetSmart in Langley.

was formed in 1993 when a group of animal lovers wanted a shelter for animals that were homeless. We provide shelter for stray, abandoned and unwanted cats in a safe, loving, cage free environment. There is a no kill policy at C.A.R.E.S., therefore any animals that are not adopted will be able to live the rest of their natural lives at the shelter. A SAFE AND CARING HOME - THE BASIS OF A GOOD LIFE

In February of 1998, C.A.R.E.S. Cats that are rescued, receive quality food, shelter and veterinary care and many of those cats are then taken to the PetSmart adoption centre in the Langley store. From February 1998 to December 2011, we have adopted out over 5400 cats from that location. As a small, non-profit organization we rely on our community of volunteers to help us keep the shelter clean and the cats well loved. Our volunteers assist with adoptions at PetSmart as well as cleaning, caring for the cats, fostering cats and kittens and generally providing love and protection for abused, injured, hungry, lost and abandoned animals. is funded entirely through memberships, adoption fees, fundraising events and the generous tax-deductible donations of caring individuals and corporations. is a non-profit Society and a registered Charity. Meet Duchess, this regal lady lived her life outside on a property overrun with cats prior to coming to us. She had multiple litters of kittens out there and was an excellent mother to each one. Her most recent litter of kittens was born here at C.A.R.E.S. and it was delightful to watch her nurture them. Her kittens are now grown and starting lives of their own, it is now this precious girls turn for the same. Duchess has a very unique speckle of extra pigment in her left eye that makes her eyes very mesmerizing!

Dutchess enjoys the company of other cats and will be a wonderful companion in a quiet home. This precious girl is very outgoing and loving but can be shy and reserved at first. We are confident in the right adult home that Duchess will become the perfect best feline friend. She is currently at the Langley PetSmart store and will be there to meet this weekend! 5-8pm tonight, and 12-3 Saturday and Sunday we will have volunteers on hand at the store!

She is very scared here, and we are hoping to find her person so she can go home. While she is shy, she's incredibly sweet, affectionate and adores getting attention. Luna can get stressed in noisy or busy surroundings, so a tranquil home is essential for her happiness. This tiny girl is navigating the world with a shy but loving disposition. She became so stressed from the activity in her previous home that she occasionally peed outside the litter box due to this stress. This precious girl was left outside our shelter in the summer. It has taken around 6 months to help her start to heal from her past experiences and broken heart. 💔 Our vet believes Coilette to be around three years old. She is very calm and relaxed now and we know bonding with her person for her next chapter will help her continue to heal her broken heart. She seems to do okay around the other cats although doesn't interact with them much, no dogs or kids will probably be best. Help us by sharing Coilette's story and let's see if we get her happily ever after started.
