It has been a wild summer this year and It’s crazy that it’s coming to the end.
Our BC PWD water trial is just around the corner! And I’m so happy with all the progress I have seen in our little water dog class, and can’t wait for them to show their stuff on the 21st/22nd.

We are gearing up for our Portuguese water Dog trial trophy fundraiser tomorrow. Expecting a little bit of showers, but hopefully will get some clear moments.

Those who have booked their time slots come prepared to play in the rain 🌧️ we have a warm water bathing area for after if needed.

We are offering 30 min times slots by donation for a private swim in our 32” by 16” pool. Spend your time swimming, practicing some jumping skills, or may even learning some new PWD dogs skills 😉

Treats, toys, and handlers welcome in the pool to support your pup 🏊‍♀️

All proceeds will go to the Portuguese Water Dog Club Western Branch Water Trial. We are hosting at Cultus Lake this September.

Here comes the summer ☀️

We are hosting another fun day event for our Rat enthusiast pups. This time including splashes in our 32’ by 16’ pool 🌊

Join us on July 7th for Chauvet’s Jumping Rat Splash.

2 barn hunt style games and 2 pool games to play

🌾 Field Hunt! Race the clock in an outdoor course with four quadrants to clear. You gain an extra 30sec of hunting time when you clear a quadrant PLUS a tunnel time bonus! How many rats can you find? 🐀

🏚️ Absolute Dump! Work an urban style hunt course indoors through boxes and bags. A great introduction to a fun new rat hunting sport coming to Chauvet this fall.

🏊‍♂️ Then splash into the pool for a timed retrieve and jump into a distance (do not have to jump off the dock to participate)

🥇 There will be fun prizes and placement ribbons for each group participating 🥇

Sunday, July 7th at Chauvet South Sumas.

🎵please note: This event is just for fun we are in no way affiliated with any official Barn Hunt or Dock Diving associations.

- Chauvet South Sumas will still be enforcing their on site noise rules. We understand the pool can bring high arousal levels so there will be an allowance for small amounts of drive barking during the dock portion. Please understand that we may not be a suitable event for all dogs and constant barkers may be asked to leave.

Spring grass have you itching! Did you know hair can hold in allergen. Just like us our dogs can feel itchy and uncomfortable due to seasonal allergies. Especially this time of year as the spring grasses and trees are pollinating.

What can you do to help?

🛁 Single coated hair breeds may need to be bathed more often. Some great products like Chris Christensen hydrating chamomile shampoo really helps soothe the itch and leave a very clean fragrance.

🐾 Whiping or washing paws. It’s very easy for debris to get stuck in their paw pads. Try keeping their pads clipped and clean to help alleviate any particles that could cause irritation.

🐝There are many holistic remedies to help aid in immune systems this time of year. Local Pollen is proven to be a natural antihistamine against allergens that are natural to your dogs home.

Gorgeous little guy Avro! Such a sweet confident boy ❤️

Avro’s owners messaged us last year about getting their new puppy in as they wanted to start grooming socialization with him as soon as possible. At the time we weren’t taking new clients so unfortunately I had to waitlist them, With some encouraging words on getting started.

I’m glad that we opened up availability again and we’re able to take this little guy in. What I love about this situation is this is a dog that doesn’t necessarily need grooming care from a professional salon, but his owners are doing the right thing by getting him socialized in new environments, also socialized with being handled by a stranger. He was confident and ready to take on his grooming experience happily.

our salon may not be the most appropriate for all double coated breeds, but I’m glad we got to meet and hang out with Avro today ❤️
