As announced at our 102nd Annual General Meeting, Otter Co-op reported total sales of $530 million and a bottom line of $1.2 million for the 2023 fiscal year. In accordance with the BC Co-op Act, 43.1% of purchases were from members, and the maximum 43.1% of profits ($508,000) have been allocated to patronage in the form of equity and cashback.

Beat the heat and keep your pets cool this summer! 🌞🐾 Here are some tips to ensure your furry friends stay comfy and hydrated!
💧 Hydration: Make sure fresh, cool water is always accessible.
🌳 Shade: If your pets are outside, ensure there's shaded areas available to them. If there are no naturally shaded areas, use umbrellas or tents to create them.
☀️ Avoid Peak Heat: Keep outdoor activity to a minimum during the hottest parts of the day. Walk your pets early in the morning or late in the evening when it's cooler.
🌱 Cool Surfaces: Provide you pets with cool surfaces like shaded grass. Surfaces like hot pavement can burn their paws.
🚗 Never Leave in Cars: Never leave your pets in a parked car, even if the windows are open. Vehicles heat up qu**ky to dangerous temperatures, which can cause pets to suffer from heatstroke and even death.
🌊 Swimming: if your pets enjoy water, let them swim or splash around in a safe and clean pool or lake.
🧊 Frozen Treats: Keep your pets entertained and help them beat the heat by freezing their favorite treats in water, or by making pet-safe frozen treats with fruits, broth, or water.
Summer Feed Storage ☀️🐮
The summer heat can wreck havoc on your feed supply if it's not properly stored and cared for. We caught up with Emma from your Otter Feed team and asked her how you can take the BEST care of your feed supply in this heat.
Here are her suggestions:
🐴 Buy only as much as you need for two weeks to limit storage time, especially textured feeds and rolled grains
🚗 Unload feed from vehicle immediately and put into a sealed storage container
🌞 Store feed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight
🐔 Make sure to rotate feed, first in, first out to ensure freshness
🫧 Ensure that feed storage containers are clean and dry. Use metal or hard plastic containers to minimize pest damage to feed
🐷 Label containers with feed type, purchase date, and expiration date
🧑🌾 Regularly inspect your feed to ensure it hasn't been contaminated
