We offer a quick turn around time while maintaining a quality that will ensure your clients a beautiful lasting memory. We are open to the general public so if you want your hide tanned for future mounting, give us a call. Our Tannery is a state of the art facility which specializes in pressure tanning creating a

soft supple hide for ultimate stretch. We use Knobloch's quality products to maintain the best tan. We are one of the only tannery companies offering services specifically in British Columbia but also work from across Canada as well as accommodating world wide customers.

Finishing a wet tan Antelope while staying warm from the blizzard outside today❄️
FUN FACT: there is a species of Antelope that is capable of jumping higher than a house! This is due to its powerful hind legs and the fact that a house cannot jump.

Today we had one of our BYOB classes! (Bring Your Own Bear) 🐻
Black Powder Tannery offers classes to anyone, of any age and skill level, interested in learning the proper techniques used in handling hides to save yourself extra fees and ensure you receive your trophy back in the best condition possible.
Small classes of 1-3 people will be taught for approximately 4 hours on flexible days / times.
Whether a bear or a deer, BPT can store your hide for you (paws/skulls/etc still in of course) prior to the class free of charge, so when you arrive you’ll get to work on your own piece.
Classes for a Shoulder Mount (removing the skull with antlers and turning the face) will be offered for $500
Classes for a Bear Hide (removing the skull and turning the face, removing the paws) will be offered for $600

Fall hunting season is getting started! Do you know how to properly care for your hide?

Knowing how to skin out the animal according to the type of mount you’d like done, and properly removing the skull, paws, antlers, etc. could end up saving you hundreds of dollars in shop labour fees, especially for the avid hunter or trapper.
Black Powder Tannery will be offering classes to anyone, of any age and skill level, interested in learning the proper techniques used in handling hides to save yourself extra fees and ensure you receive your trophy back in the best condition possible.

Knowing how to properly skin out an animal is obviously an important part to any hunt, but when you take it one step further by skinning out the paws & tails or knowing how to turn the ears, eyes, nose, and lips you could save US time which could end up saving YOU money😎🔪🐻

Here’s a quick look at how a piece gets finished as a wet tan. We go over each piece several times to ensure only the best quality products are getting sent back to our customers. After thoroughly brushing, trimming, and cleaning/drying it with compressed air this moose cape was folded and bagged, ready to be mounted
