I would like to take this opportunity to announce that after months of careful consideration and reflecting, I have made the very difficult decision to close Taylor Veterinary Clinic as of March 1st, 2025.

The clinic will remain open with business as usual until March 1st, 2025.

The past 9 years (since the clinic's opening date of November 13, 2015) have left me with countless memories. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful, caring people and amazing pets! I have also been so fortunate to be able to work with the most talented, caring and dedicated individuals who, without their support, would never have been able to operate a successful veterinary clinic. I am forever grateful.
Thank you all so very much for your support over the years. I wish each and everyone of you nothing but the very best for the future.

June is here this weekend! Is your dog protected against Heartworm?

We have had a heartworm positive case local to our area. Heartworm is transmitted by mosquito bites. Heartworm is very serious, and if left undetected and untreated, heartworm mature into adults in the heart and lead to further complications. To prevent heartworm infection in Ontario, we recommend keeping your pet on heartworm prevention (such as heartgard) from June to November.

-If you have a puppy 8 weeks to 6 months of age, we can start prevention on them right away.
-If your puppy is 7 months and older, we can test them for infection and start preventative.
-For dogs who have not been on heartworm prevention in previous years, we can perform a quick blood test, in clinic, that tests for tickborne diseases and heartworm infection. Then start them on preventative.
- If your pet has a history of inconsistent dosing (ie. did not treat for the recommended 6 month period) we recommend re-testing before initiating preventative.

Although the risk of heartworm is relatively low in Canada, the province of Ontario holds the highest risk in the country. Ensure your pet is protected, call or email today!
