Today is a very special day for the team at The Vivarium as we celebrate our patriarch Brent's birthday (the number of which I am contractually obligated not to say)! 🎉

Over the last 15 years, you've taken this place from its humble beginnings to turn it into a hub for reptile enthusiasts all over Ess*x County. Thank you for all you do. The Vivarium wouldn't be the same without you.

We're a bit late with this post, but we wanted to give a huge thank you to our friends and for guiding us through this incredible build for our Gidgee Skink (Egernia stokesii.)
This habitat is put together using ZooMed Excavator Clay. A product that allows you to build backgrounds, basking ledges, caves, tunnels, & nearly anything else you can think of for your arid and desert species such as Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, K**b Tail Geckos, & Uromastyx.

Aren't they just adorable!

White's Tree Frogs (Litoria caerulea) are amongst the most charismatic amphibians on this planet. With an average adult size of 4 inches, keepers of this species love them for their relatively easy care requirements, high activity levels, bright colours, and immense appetites!
We currently have 6 of these little firecrackers available now, so feel free to check them out before they hop into their new homes. 🐸

The Mexican Black Kingsnake, (Lampropeltis getula nigrita) is a medium sized colubrid which calls the rocky outcrops of the Sonoran, Mexican and Arizona desert home.
This animal gets the name "King Snake" from it's strong feed response where they will take on small rodents, birds, lizards and other snakes. This drive to eat makes them great captives as they almost never turn down a meal.

There are currently 4 of these incredible little animals in store, so feel free to swing by and get a closer look! 🐍

Ball pythons (Python regius) are one of the most visually varied species of snakes on the planet, and these four good looking boys are no exception!

Loved the world over by reptile keepers of all stripes for their docile personality, small size, and morph variation it's easy to see how one of our boys could be the perfect cold blooded companion for you and the family!

We have a Leachianus Gecko in store! Also known as the New Caledonian Giant Gecko, it is a nocturnal and arboreal species. It has care requirements similar to those of a Crested Gecko but they do get substantially larger than the Cresties they share their island with. Come check them out at The Vivarium!

The Sandfish Skink is a super interesting species from the Sahara Desert and the Arabian Peninsula. They exhibit a unique behavior of swimming through sand which they do with ease to burrow and hide themselves in sand. Come check out this awesome Lizard here at The Vivarium!

The Tri-Color Hognose Snake originates from South American countries such as Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina. This Hognose subspecies uses its bright coloration to mimic the venomous Coral Snake as a defence mechanism while it's relative, the Western Hognose, typically displays browns and tans. The Green Anole is a familiar species that is recognizable to most. They are native to South-Eastern United States but have also been introduced to Caribbean islands and Hawaii. Something super unique to these guys is their ability to change color similar to Chameleons but are limited to shades of green to brown. Come check these guys out here at The Vivarium!

If you've been at the store recently, you would've definitely seen our new Green Tree Python. This guy displays some gorgeous colors and is one of the most recognizable snake species. The Pixie Frog or the Giant African Bullfrog inhabits savannahs of sub-Saharan Africa and males can grow to 5-10 inches while females stay about half their size. These Frogs have huge appetites so feeding is always entertaining. Come check this little guy out here at The Vivarium!

Green Basilisks are here at The Vivarium! Also known as the Jesus Christ Lizard, these reptiles are known for their ability to run on water. This defence mechanism to evade predators is super unique to this species. Other than their physics defying abilities, they are great looking Lizards and have some vibrant greens and blues. The Brown Anole is a Cuban native lizard that is now invasive in Florida and across to California and have been outcompeting the Floridian Green Anoles. They make awesome little pets as they are always basking or out on branches. The bright red dewlap found on male Green Anoles is also present in the Brown Anole which is showcased when attracting a mate. Come check out this cool little lizard here at The Vivarium!

This is a Cinnamon Queen Bee Ball Python that is available here at The Vivarium! This morph displays a unique color pattern with hints of pale yellow, white and tan. Baby Bearded Dragons are here at The Vivarium! They are one of the most recognizable reptiles due to their popularity in the reptile community. They are also one of the most personable reptiles there is and can tolerate handling far better than other species. The Green Paddy Frog is a terrestrial frog that inhabits marshes, rice paddy fields, and slow moving streams in southeast Asia. They stay relatively small maxing out just under 3 inches. The Mangrove Monitor is a smaller member of the Monitor family reaching 3-4 feet in length. They inhabit places such as Australia, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. They do require specific care regiments in order to thrive therefore beginners should steer clear from this species. They make for very rewarding pets and are highly intelligent animals. These are both Mediterranean Tortoise species with lifespans that easily exceed 75 years with proper care.
