Red Spruce’s BOWhunter Fred Bear
Enjoyed 3 weeks of board & training at our home. We worked on retrieving, steadiness and focus. He got introduced to gun shots and got the basics down to get handled in the field. He looks like a grown boy, but is only 9 months of age.
Soon the hunting season will open and he will gain more experience in real life upland and waterfowl hunting with his owner. 🖤
Cannot wait to see what this hunting season brings for this guy! 🦆🪿🐦

Aspen’s paw cuts are finally closing up and I got hopes to start training her again soon. It has been absolutely torture for Aspen not to do retrieves!

Sables dad is actually Bruce’s color. So he got his beautiful coat probably from grandpa 💛

We are so excited to have another of our 2023 litter pups stay with us for a couple of days!
Bruce is 9 months old and a very sweet and handsome boy; exactly how I remember him back when he was just a baby!
Bruce will get taught some leash manners during his stay. First day has been great, smart boy catching on quickly!

He is a strong dark yellow (fox-red) male, a gentle giant, powerful, and absolutely stunning to look at. He has incredible focus at work and excellent marking abilities in the field with a high drive and engagement.
At home, he is a big teddy bear and loves to snuggle.
He is clear of genetic faults, cleared for advanced cardiac, eyes, hips, and elbows, and does not carry the dilute gene. We only consider CKC-registered females clear of brucellosis. Dilutes are not considered for breeding. Please get in touch with us for further information.

I was so excited to see two of our Red Spruce Puppies compete and pass in their first Junior Hunt tests.

We had a great weekend at the Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club . Thanks for the judges and everyone else who made this well organized test possible.
We’ve got to catch up with lots of great folk and met a bunch of lovely new people!
Sable ran two Senior hunt tests. She was a big team player and did excellent. Today she failed the water blind due to some whistle refusal.
Aspen came for the ride and impressed with a great first try at her senior hunt test. She was steady at the honor, nailed the land blind, passed the double with ease and had fun at the upland hunt. But also failed the water blind.
Regardless, I’m super proud of both! They’ve been absolutely great this weekend and we know what to work on 💪🏼

Don’t you love watching your pups sleep? Yesterday was a gorgeous day and our pups “pass out” on our lawn all the time. They seem to be sleeping so deep and peaceful- it’s impossible not to take a sneaky picture.

RIDING SHOTGUN
We got the opportunity to try out our first field trial today because of a last minute cancellation at our club.
Aspen has not run a lot of doubles yet, nor’ distances like she ran today, but we took this opportunity to check out what field trials are all about.
Aspen impressed with steadiness on the line and excellent marking. Pinned down the first two birds without hesitation. She didn’t nail the last memory bird, but I could have lined her up a bit better, too. Regardless I’m super proud of her!
Long story short, my little girl shown me her real strong side today and I’m excited to work towards her next Junior field trial. 🔥
