The Windy City Canine Rescue is a small breed dog rescue operating in Southern Alberta.

The Windy City Canine Rescue is operated by a group of volunteers based in Lethbridge, AB helping older dogs in need of a home. Our goal is to make sure that a dog that has already had one family, finds his/her perfect match this time around. 🍃 Introducing: Willow 🍃

Although easily mistaken for a stray dandelion tuft, Willow is actually a gorgeous Chinese Crested puppy searching for her furever family. 🏡❤️

At less than 3 months old, this intolerably adorable girl is 4 pounds of unprecedented bravery and perhaps slightly unwarranted confidence. Willow faces the world with a bold attitude and a perpetual readiness to play. She is unafraid of trying to take on her foster brothers in a game of tug despite a solid fifty pound weight difference. In Willow’s eyes, there is no reason she couldn’t be the champion of a Friday Night SmackDown with any dog. 🤼‍♀️

Willow’s joy is infectious and her kisses sweet. The sound of her scampering across your house is sure to delight every inch of your soul. She is truly perfection all wrapped up in a tiny sweater. 💝

Being scarce of hair, Willow will need a family who is willing to put in the time and effort for her grooming and skincare. She will also require patience as she is still a baby and will need calm guidance as she continues learning the worlds of potty training and appropriate chewing. ✨🪮

🌹 Introducing: Bella 🌹

Beautiful Beagle mix Bella is a sweet senior gal looking to spend her golden years being lavished with the love she knows she so deserves. 🥰

At ten years old, Bella still enjoys her walks around the block but her exercise demands are far simpler and much less time consuming than the wild young’uns. Bella is content relaxing outside in the sun or simply being her chill self next to her people. Her playful side comes out around her foster siblings and her beagle side comes out when she fears her foster dad might forget to bring her to work with him but, overall, Bella is a very easy dog to have around. ☀️🕶️

Having already known the beauty of the special connection between humans and their dogs, senior dogs are often quick to form strong bonds with their new families. Bella is no different and simply loves being loved. All she needs is the special human to share her love with. 🐾🫵

🐾 Happy Betty White Day! 🐾

Today, we honor the legacy of the incredible Betty White—a lifelong advocate for animals—with a special fundraiser to support our furry friends in need!

🌸 Gigi Pupdate 🌸

Cutie patootie poodle mix, Gigi, has been busy blossoming as she continues to discover the little joys that life has to offer. She has discovered an epic love of chew toys and there is just no going back now. 🦴

Gigi’s playful nature means that she will need a friend in her furever home. She has shown that she has a special talent for tempting her foster siblings into some adorable group zoomies that are guaranteed to melt hearts. Even cats are welcome playmates for Gigi! Her gentle play with her feline friends are as sweet as they are respectful. 🐈

Kennel training has been going well for Gigi and she settles well in her crate but sharing your bed with her at night is still a non-negotiable for such a cuddly girl. Even with all of her improvement, Gigi will still need someone who can show some patience as she transitions from using p*e pads to big girl potty training. ❤️

Kids are a bit too much for this little gal so a child-free home would suit her best. Men still aren’t Gigi’s favourite but she has decided that they can occasionally be good for a scritch or two while sharing a couch. At her core, Gigi is a true girl’s girl and thrives in the company of women. 🎀

🎀 Isabella Pupdate 🎀

After returning to Windy City through no fault of her own, our favourite jowly jewel, Izzy, got to enjoy some well-deserved spoiling for Christmas. As much as Izzy loved her gifts from Santa, the gift we most wish for her is a furever home. 🎅🏼

Like many dogs, Izzy can sometimes be a little selective with other dogs but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t love a home with a playmate. Another dog in the house would allow her to show off her playful side as well as her undying loyalty. She absolutely loves her furry foster sister and has gained a lot of confidence by following the lead of her beloved bestie. 🐾❤️🐾

After some work with her foster mom, Izzy has shown that she is capable of being a perfect lady on walks. With her impeccable house-manners already well-established, this sweet squishy-faced princess would make a wonderful addition to many kinds of home. She has even shown a lot of promise with how much she has improved when it comes to cats. 👑

This darling girl is so full of love and joy, we just want to give her the opportunity to show her future family what a gift she truly is. 🎁

After a cozy holiday season full of presents and wild romps in the snow, Arlo is ready to resume his search for his furever family. 🎄

Arlo is a young Shih Tzu mix who will require a bit of patience and understanding from his future family. A big change can bring out the fearful behaviour in the most confident of dogs so a new home and family is a lot for dogs who are on the timid side like Arlo. We’ve found that a welcoming doggy friend can do wonders for Arlo’s confidence and can be a great help in making him feel at home. A playmate is very important for this guy to live his best life. 🐾❤️🐾

Giving Arlo the time and space to adjust will win you a soft, fuzzy little snuggle bug. This clever little boy is sure to get a giggle out of anyone who has gained his trust with his adorable antics and sweet nature. Maybe you had a few parties over the holidays or maybe it’s been awhile since you took in your empties! This is a reminder that we have an account at GPS bottle depots. Happy Monday from Izzy!! Jenny needs a home

***ADOPTED*** Jenny update from her foster mom!! What to say about little miss sass pants….well she is patiently waiting for her forever home and in the meantime is enjoying playing with Kona, following Bruno around, cuddling under blankets for a nap, and chewing on alllll the toys! She is an expert vehicle traveler, lays quietly in her kennel and enjoys the ride of wherever she is going. She is a bit of a diva and doesn’t enjoy being alone in a room and will let you know her displeasure when she is left behind in the x-pen when unsupervised. Her kennel had to be moved into our bedroom at night after Forrest left as she needs the comfort of knowing everyone is in the same room and then she settles instantly and sleeps soundlessly through the night. 🙌🏻 She is still learning about the potty training aspects and how to let you know she needs to go, but she is a very smart little girl so definitely won’t take long in her new home to understand where to go. Jenny has mastered the zoomies and the furniture parkour but is still having issues with stairs. She can go up them but then gets scared as she took a little tumble and now won’t try again just barks at the bottom of the stairs for help haha Little miss Jenny definitely needs an active home with preferably another canine companion or two to help her learn all the doggy manners needed to be the best doggo ever!
