It’s time for our biannual pool cleaning. Why do we clean the pool twice a year? It gives us a chance to give the walls a good scrub, clean the dog hair trapped under the ramp and under the grippy mats and make sure the water is fresh and clean. Our filtration system does a fantastic job of keeping up on the day to day but with the invasion of our ramp it gives more places for hair and such to hide.
In addition it gives us a fantastic opportunity to have our biannual sale. Today until March 1st at 6pm, book a swim- assisted or private- for 50% off! This is a great opportunity for your pup to learn to swim, receive stimulation of a new exciting activity or bring your pup in for an activity they already love.

Brrr, it’s cold out there! For the remainder of the week we are offering all swims for $15 off! And we want to make sure dogs are getting as dry as possible before venturing back into the cold so if you book a swim, you can also book a half hour in the play space for free! You can use this for extra drying time, extra energy burning or even some training time out of the cold! We supply towels and have a dryer for your use but recommend that if your dog has a jacket and/or booties that you bring them for the ride home.

Did you know? The benefits of hydrotherapy were first embraced during the time of the Roman Empire, but utilizing hydrotherapy for animals didn’t come about until water began to be utilized on horses at the racetrack. The use of water improved conditioning and healing benefits for the horses and the practise spread to the greyhounds racing industry and then spread worldwide.
There are amazing programs in the United States, Europe, Australia, there’s also a fantastic program in Singapore. Hydrotherapy is taking the world by storm because it has so many potential benefits. In Alberta we’re seeing more hydrotherapy centres and pools popping up yearly including a new location in Calgary just last year. We are so excited to be a part of the growing awareness of improving our canine friends quality of life and look forward to being challenged by this growing awareness to improve our services that we can offer in the future.

Batten down the hatches it’s going to be a cold one! We are going to be on site Saturday Feb 1st from 12-8 and Sunday February 2nd from 10-5 for bookings via our website or drop in for our next available booking. Gather up your dog friends and come in to exercise your pups without having to stay bundled up and have a ton of fun out of the cold!
*each session is a private booking. You can invite others or keep the time in the pool or play space to just you and your dog

Do all dogs like to swim? Absolutely not.
Some dogs take to it like fish, others think the water is going to melt them. Sometimes it takes a few sessions to get the dog comfortable entering the water on their own, some just don’t like to get their feet wet. Everyone takes their own time and sometimes everyone just needs a helping paw. Hank’s brother showed him how to get wet and look at him choosing to enter on his own. Greta job Hank!

We often get asked if we have a bathtub to wash dogs after their swim. The answer unfortunately is, is no, we don’t have a tub 😔
But we DO have a hose set up on the deck to allow for after-swim rinsing!

This cold weather can be hard on your dog. The heated salt water can help relieve tension in the muscles and joints and after their swim they can enjoy a good rub down with a towel, a nice heated blow dry, and an ear cleaning to remove trapped moisture from the ear lobes. Swimming is also a great way to expend extra energy so you don’t have to spend as much time out in the cold!
